Yea I guess you are right. It takes a brave filmmaker to release a movie called Superbad. Fortunately for Mottola and friends, it's impossible to use the title to describe the quality. And, while Superbad may not be "supergood," it's engaging enough to be worth paying full admission prices.

the key in comedies is that it never is even the least bit serious.
example of a comedy that pulled that off: Freddy got fingered. Funniest comedy ive ever seen.
example of a comedy that didnt pull that off: American pie.

In what category is superbad in comedy style wise (not story wise)?
