Six years since 9/11 how do you really feel?

Its been six years since 9/11 took us by surprise that fateful morning, where were you that morning, and what were you doing?

How has it effected you in your life, finance, love, personal freedom?

They say "We will never forget"!

Tell how you really feel...

Today I saw an eagle,
With a teardrop in his eye.

It literally took my breath away,
To see an eagle cry.

I asked him, What's the matter?,
And he told me what he saw.

A cowardly attack was made,
On the towers that once stood tall.

He said everything he stood for,
Had taken a shocking blow.

So he had to take a moment,
To let his own emotions show.

Then he proudly told me,
That our Nation would survive.

That our Liberty and Freedom,
He'd be sure to keep alive.

He said for us not to be afraid,
To stand together, not apart.

For a terrorist has succeeded,
If he puts fear within our hearts.

I'm still stunned, to be perfectly honest. First, from the action, and secondly, from those who believe it was a conspiracy of the US government.

I feel saddened but also a bit like Ron Paul has stated.

"Have you ever read about the reasons they attacked us? They attack us because we've been over there. We've been bombing Iraq for 10 years,"

The US needs to stop interfering with the world for it's own interests.

I feel one thing only: a wrong was was started. Killing 1000's of Iraqi people and the US soldiers won't get back those who died on 9/11

At the time it happened and for a good while after that I felt sickened to my stomach. But no I feel MUCH worse about what the US is doing as a consequence to what happened on 9/11. What happened that day is still very shady to say the least.

And they don't do much to stop their muslim brothers, so they're kind of complicit in terrorism. If you were in a theater in Harlem with your buddy, and he started yelling "nig#@!!" wouldn't you tell him to shut the fuck up?

This does not mean fighting a stupid war in Iraq.

As for the supposed demolition video, I don't know how someone could ascertain from those tiny puffs of smoke that demolition was used on the WTC. There could have easilt been beams and debris pushed down through the building, causing damage on the lower floors.

Have you ever seen a building demolition? Any that I've ever seen(on buildings many many times smaller than the WTC), it takes an enmormous amount of exposives placed in exactly the correct spot. It's not a very inconspicuous type of endeavor.

There is no way that enough explosive could be rigged to take down 2 building of that size(2 of the biggest buildings in the world) without someone finding out about it. WTC would have to be shut down for a year while hundreds of demo men swarm all over the building planning and then setting charges...it can't be a stealth mission. There has to be a demo expert out there somewhere laughing at this video's suggestion.

I feel A terrible tragedy has been hijacked by big business. How much was spent on blowing the shit out of Afghanistan and Iraq and how much more is being MADE rebuilding them? And is the world a safer place? No because We're busy spending billions upon billions of pounds to fight the extremists on a battlefield when we should actually be screwing with their funding. It's a simple equation, no money = no guns.

It still amazes me how the world mourned with America and felt so sorry for what happened and everyone was behind you, Russia and China would have joined in to help you.

Now thanks to George Bush's actions in Iraq the world hates you. Seriously if another 9-11 happened I really doubt anyone would really bother to help you out. They would send in minimal troops to ensure trade contracts remain in place but that is it.

I feel used.

As a result of it, too many people pushed forward too many agendas that had little to nothing to do with the incident.

The only thing that stopped me from joining the armed forces on Sept the 12th, 2001 was knowledge of who the commander and chief of our country was. I didn't trust him.

I'm glad I had that foresight. IMHO, It's too bad more people didn't.

It was a terrorist attack - tho bigger than usual - but happens all over the world every year and nothing exactly new.

Also felt the heat from a terrorist bomb blast, but that does not affect my life in any way - or have anything to do with "personal freedom". Also bear no grudges against the bombers - can't approve of it, tho there are always reasons behind it.

Tip - it might be just time to move on and find something more constructive to "discuss". There are never any "winners" and terrorism has never been "defeated" - the "war on terror" has been a miserable failure and over-reaction at great cost in lives and economically - exactly what a "terrorist" wants. If anyone "won" - they did.

How do I feel?

Ashamed to be an American.

As a result of 9/11, we have killed more innocent civilians abroad than were ever killed in our country. We have wasted the lives of brave American soldiers in a war that was not planned out, in a country that had nothing to do with 9/11.

We have created an intense hatred towards the USA that is greater than ever and terrorists are being bred to kill us every day.

Our leader is an idiot, a crook and a murderer with no regard for international law, American rights or human life.

So yea, I feel ashamed.

I used to be proud to tell people where I was from when I traveled. Now I say I'm from Canada.

Doubt there would be a lack of help BP - but not based on the bullshit rantings from the Whitehouse.

International agencies and LE deal with this all the time and some countries just have more expertise in handling "incidents" - to the level it's not a sensation - and the question of "troops" is not even considered. Troops and weaponary will never "conquor" terrorism - it's a bit more subtle than that and sometimes folks can be hard learners

I remember every feeling, every moment from that day as it were yesterday. I woke up a few hours BEFORE the attack feeling just 'weird'. I couldnt sleep so I decided to go to the 24 grocery. It was 5 something am here while I was browsing the aisles and I hear 2 stock guys talking about "commuter plane " going into the WTC. Being a transplanted native New Yorker I left my cart where it was, started for home and got on my phone immediately. One of my best friends was headed into the city that day to our office (she lives in Jersey, BB office had JUST moved from Broadway to the upper east side) but I couldnt get through on her cell. COUNTLESS amounts of my friends, collegues, and family live and work in Manhattan. I remember waking my parents and they didnt believe me til they turned on the TV.
I couldnt find anyone. Phones were useless but I finally got in touch with my office and found that everyone there was safe. The only way we could correspond for the first few hours was email. I remember BEGGING my boss to find someone to go check on my grandparents who lived at the time RIGHT south of Houston Street in what was the war zone. No one had heard from them or seen them. They spoke very little english and we didnt know WHAT to do. We were stuck. I remember contemplating that if I couldnt get a hold of them by sundown I was gonna start driving to the city ( from AZ ) since there were no flights.
We ended up finding almost everyone within a few hours but those few hours were absolutely agonizing. Like I said we found ALMOST EVERYONE... EXCEPT for one girlfriend ours who worked at Cantor. They didnt find Cathy until several months later...may she rest in peace.
It still stings like it just happened. I dont think we'll ever forget.
oh yeah

You shouldn't be ashamed. You should do something about it. If government in any other country did what USA government is doing, there would be strikes, there would be protests. There would be revolution. Government gets its power from the people. People should remind them about it once in a while.

I am amazed that such a great country like USA is allowing this to go on.

sorry

I don't know do I have right to comment since I am not American, but it was dangerous to play with fire. USA supported muslim extremists in Bosnia to fight against other non-muslim people. Radical Islam is very dangerous and it should be destroyed long ago. 9/11 is result of wrong foreign policy of USA (lot of countries still have same situation but not so big because USA is big and everything is bigger). USA is supporting same cause on on different sides of world and in same time calling those guys terrorists if they need that.

When told to UN that mujahedins are training in middle of Europe (Bosnia), no one didn't want to listen and world continued to help them in making their state.

Now, USA is doing same with muslims extremists on Kosovo (yes, there are same mujahedins that trained fighters in Bosnia). Before NATO attack on Yugoslavia, one of reasons of fight between Serb army and Albanians, was support and training camps for muslims fighters on Kosovo especially region of Drenica.

Maybe it sound paranoid to most people here, but it was same situation in Bosnia. I am glad that independent (if medias can be independent) SKY news made this (it was already posted on this forum before).

http://news.sky.com/skynews/video/vi..._p3705,00.html

And to go back to 9/11. I am really sorry for ordinary people died there.I am almost sure that they didn't think or didn't care about foreign policy of their president. Also, I am sure that most of them wouldn't support American wars that they were asked. It is big tragedy for all those people that went through hell in those buildings because of someones else reasons. No policy is worth of that.

Double standards are wrong thing. Check out picture of bombed business builiding(yes, business building) by American tomahawks in Belgrade.
http://www.vreme.com/arhiva_html/vb7/images/01.gif

Anyway, like someone here already told, screw them money, arrest them, chase them like Russians did to Dudayev, don't support them in other parts of world and enormous amount of money should be used into their education or propaganda. Everything here is better then deaths of innocent people (even soldiers).

Once again, really sorry for innocent people suffer. (all people from USA, Iraq....)

Nope.

Not as long as Bin Laden and his fellow travelers are still breathing.

Having said that, I'm fully aware that Iraq was a mistake....a huge mistake. Anyone with half a brain knew, or should have known, that Saddam's secular regime had nothing to do with 911. Without a question the 911 tragedy was compounded by the fact that we had an idiot for a president on that day

I feel like my dumb ass countrymen got scammed into re-electing the worst president in history because these dumb fucks don't like to change presidents in the middle of a war. The damage 911 did by getting the fool a 2nd term hurt this country more than the act itself.

I agree J. Falcon

it's still in my mind...well, most of us I guess.
Though I have no relatives or anyone close to me, the thing is there's a lot of innocent people died on that tragic event. I think it will be remembered forever.

Not to mention Iraq was in no way connected to 9/11... the attackers were acting on their own behalf, and weren't even from Iraq. The US gov't probably didn't conspire to cause 9/11 but they sure are guilty of putting one hell of a spin on it afterwards. They used the public's fear to gain support and pursue their own causes, ie. securing oil in Iraq. Even though Iraq has never attacked the US, and was never any sort of a threat to national security. George Bush is responsible for many more innocent lives than Osama Bin Laden, hopefully they're both held accountable for their crimes some day.

Agreed.

I may not be an American myself but I have the utmost profound respect for its ideals and the principles it was founded on, having learned much of American history. I think that 9/11 was an opportunity for Americans to admit the folly of their recent foreign policy, and return to its truly American roots of freedom, non-intervention, having friends instead of allies, having strong defense without the offense, and showing the world by example -- in fact, shaming the world through its naturally superior framework for a free and just society. That opportunity is still there -- no amount of bungling by a certain administration could crush the American spirit, and neither could 9/11.

I'm still pretty shocked by it, just doesn't make much sense why we didn't stop it.

9/11 and the aftermath helped me move from mildly disliking a few Republican policies and not really feeling one way or another about Republicans to feeling absolute hatred for most Republicans and disliking almost all of their policies.

How did 9/11 change my life/finances/freedom/etc?

1. I read the independent news outlets much more often and the corporate media much less often.
2. Anything claimed by the government that is not completely and undeniably proved is automatically suspect.
3. I pay attention to elections much more, esp. local races because the people that get in as city councilmen today are senators and state reps in a couple of decades.

I give all the families out there that lost loved ones on 9/11 my heart.
It was truly one of the most horrific days in american history. I hope
you can or have found peace.
We shall never forget, and those that lost their lives shall always live forever in peace within our hearts!
we love and miss all of you!
