I'd assume this is Acacia again with more patent bullshit

More "Video on Demand" bullshit for those who are following it...

Fuck heads with these "business method" patents.

Someone should patent "selling stuff to make money" then sue everyone.

Thanks for posting the other thread.. missed it when I checked to see if anyone had posted the wired link yet.

What a bunch of bullshit. I have an idea of what Acacia wants for licensing fees and, well

I think the article said that they want to be paid "per download" too. Nice.

Hopefully someone with deep pockets will take them to court and get a decent judge to toss this one out.

Are Acacia Research and USA Video, 2 different companies. The letter I received was from Acacia Research, and it made no mention of USA Video. But the Wire article above is talking about USA Video, and does Not make any mention Of Acacia. This Just an observation. what do you guys think.

I'm in two minds here. As a producer if you use one of my pictures you pay me. So if I invented something then I would want paying for it's use.

But if on the other hand these guys have just patented a broad process and just waiting for tecnology to catch up then it's wrong.

What I cannot work out is how anyone can patent something in this industry which is always developing new systems/processes and the rest of it. I would have thought the patented process has been replaced by something newer and better.
