MYTHS that lead to the DEATHS of thousands of cats and DOGS

http://www.petstyle.com/dog/health_w...ection=spaying

It's kinda mind-boggling how some widely held notions about pet spaying and neutering is contributing to the stray population. This population of cats and dogs is then routinely euthanized--in the thousands! That's thousands of needless deaths.

Read the list in the site above and be part of the solution.

Here's one that I hear quite a bit:
Myth: Female dogs and cats should have one litter before being spayed.

Female dogs and cats who have had litters or go through a heat period prior to spay surgery have an increased chance of developing malignant breast cancer later in life. So, allowing them to reproduce can actually negatively affect their health and longevity. Spaying completely eliminates the possibility of your female dog or cat developing ovarian and uterine cancer.

I wouldn't be surprised if that myth contributed to some feline deaths.
