Australian (Foreign) Paysite Owners (ibill's solution)

I don't post too much, but maybe this info might help a few non us based webmasters who have got the shitty end of the stick.

I am sure all NON US paysite owners are having a difficult time with the new visa reg's, paying the fees is ok, that does not bother me at all, but the need for a US entity is difficult especially with time contraints presented. And then the issue of possible double taxation is you want to bring profits back.

Anyway, I called my IBILL account manager and she was just going into a meeting about all this, so called her back 1 hour later, she ensured me that " You will only need to pay the reg fees as IBILL is establishing merchant accounts in Australia, as you have an Australian company their will be no need for a US based entity".

Look, I am just passing this info on as it might help somone, I suggest all site owners from Australia (and other non-us countries as they may be doing this for any country where they make enough profit from the webmasters located their? who knows!) call their account manager at IBILL and ASK!

If we can get the same story from many mouths at ibill well maybe we can sleep a little easier.

I have no idea and have not asked ccbill epoch etc... but maybe if you use them you should get on the phone and see what they have to say.

Please post any comments/info you get from your IBILL rep here so we can can all see how it looks.

Good luck,

Merlin.

Very very very sceptical. I hope they dont plan on billing in A$. That will be a fun exercise in customer support. And since you have to disclose, people will think they are being charged double and wont even do the transaction.

I can't believe it! IBill actually does something useful. If this is true about IBill getting an Australian merchant account than it would appear that IBill may not be entirely useless after all.

I would hope that CCBill and others are trying to get an Australian merchant account too.

wow, DangerDave....an old time aussie webmaster

All you Aussie webmasters should be phoning IBill and pressure them about setting up an Aussie merchant account to make sure they go through with it.

They might be on the fence wondering if it is worth it or not, call them and tell them they should do it.

Hi Brown Bear.

It is "CCBIll" that has my "nuts in a vice" and as usual they are as helpful as a speed bump..

I believe my CCBill rep ICQ'd me - AT 3A.M.

I have tried caling em a few times but get the run-around or a goddamn answering machine... but anyway I am just ranting.

I am also loooking at getting my own merch acct here and doing my own processing. I know a few WMs that do, and they say it works fine.. especially at 2-5%

Fuk I hate talking to banks!

No problem DangerDave, just passing on what I was told and hoping it will help someone/get AU webmasters calling ibill to verify with their acc rep, no nothing in writting and at 1:30am I did not think to ask LOL!

All I can suggest is everyone from AU calls ibill and see if we all get the same answer.

I do know that NAB does supply internet merchant accounts as my partners uncle just set one up, also they have a new feature/software that allows billing in multiple currencies including US$, however I have been told this is only offered at this time to large companies.

If all internet merchant accounts are classified high risk then thats good that NAB has them, but I am no expert in any way and not sure if they allow adult.

I was thinking of goint to see my business bank manager about it as I bank with NAB, but if IBILL does indeed get an AU merchant acc that will be a solution for now.

I hope other 3rd parties do work on this same solution for all webmasters from NON-US, but I only have what I got told from IBILL as I mainly use them primary.

iBIll has advised me that they are looking into an Australian merchant account too.

But here are the main points:

1) They are looking into it (which desnt hepl us right now, does it)

2) Most Australian banks would prefer to eat shit than accept adult transactions

3) An Australian Merchant account does fuck all for current US rebills

4) Billing in AUD is a poor alternative

DangerDave that's great you are getting info from AU banks on merchant accounts! looking forward to any info you can post.

I guess atleast these accounts are available in OZ, hopefully one is avaliable that can bill in $US if all else fails.

No matter what if we can all assist each other then hopefully we can ride out the storm.

My IBILL rep told me all current US rebills will be fine with IBILL AU merchant account, in no way am I saying your are incorrect as I have no knowledge of how the system works... any details on why rebills would be lost though??

I agree they told me they are getting one (AU merchant acc) so they have not got it yet I presume, I like to have some hope whilst still working on other backup solutions.

Thanks for your input, the more info the better for all of us.

i have been wondering for both canadian and australian sponsors since most of them are larger than the europeans. Except the currency problem that might occur,i find it hard to believe than they'll be no banks to take care of it. My suggestion is for the ones that are in hurry to find a solution, is to examine every possible aspect, give it some time and don't make the choice now. In the following days we can experience more than one alternative solutions. my

It's good for 50% of adult sponsors... I find that many have Australian connections.

I have always been of thr understanding that Australian Banks would not support Merchant accounts doing transactins in any currency other than AUD - which totally suck because they are always fuckign up
I once lost the BIGGEST content order we EVER had - which would have had us sitting pretty for a year or two - but due to the conversions and the bank totally fuckign up the exchange rates etc - the guy ended up cancellign the order
Fuckers!

So Ibill will set up merchant accounts here huh? Doesn't bother me - I refuse to use the fuckers so long as they still process for Child Pornography
ANDl what about other processors? will they be setting up here?
I gaurantee the smaller processors won't be

sure the biggest programs are based in OZ - that's why they are doing this - but what about smaller countries - what will they do?

I'm getting a company registered in NV and looked after for me for a small monthly fee thru a mate - anyone who wants to do the same I suggest you contact me I'll give you the details.
Between VISA / Processing Companies and the ATO fucking aussies around ... best to be US based that's for sure

- it makes you wonder if it's even worth being in the biz
Let me think abotu it for a sec..

Hmm YES! it's worth it - if you can find a loophole - and there's ALWAYS a loophole

Re: Canadians.

1) No Canadian Banks will accept a high risk adult merchant account, so no, you can't get one in Canada from what I have heard.

2) In Canada you can easily bill in US$, so if the merchant accounts did exist, it would be easy to transfer it over.
