need this thing for work server-side via ssh.

going to make customised movie galleries for our affiliates and for personal usage with increased ads ctr (done this in past with picture galleries - work just great) also affiliates will be can get their own links etc added into templates and other options on personal basis.

does anyone know what software i need for do this at linux?

ffmpeg is open source, works on many variations of linux and aix/bsd/solaris etc/etc

I don't know about linux... but I highly recommend xilisoft converter - it can convert any type of file and even really obscure ones

Anyhow - you're going to probably want to tweak some of the features, otherwise your flvs will come out looking like shit.
