I can't find the right look,

I know its a simple look, but I need some designer intuition.... I am looking to redo Ampland again.. I have worked a year on getting it looking decent, and remain the same style, however I have learned that 3 column layouts are
#1 a huge pain in the ass. (even though i have mastered them via CSS)
#2 horrible for seo (omg im getting my ass kicked cuz of the gayness footers at top of page)

And we all know SEO is my middle name, so I must have this site redone again..

The problem being, I am having trouble finding the new look but same Ampland atmosphere and colors.. I do have the clues.

So if you want to show me simple mockups, i will gladly review them and hire
the one we like to be ifnished, but first pay attention to the things I know I want..

#1 Fixed Width Centered Layout
900px to start, this can be changed and wont hurt the site if changed.
#2 100% CSS design, sorry we have left tables out in the stable
#3 header and footer and the footer must be at the bottom of text file
#4 obviously the categories will be going down the left side of the main menu page... from there do whatever
#5 the colors, if you cant figure them out.. well why are you a designer?

so if you have the right look for ampland, and cant do a quick mock-up
hit me up and let see what ideas you have... I want it more web 2.0 kinda
style if possible, im not expecting a complete design done as a mockup, all I want to see is a simple design layout, with like just the header in mind is all I care to see, then we can go from there.

where's all the designers at?!

Mike, its just a bit vague of a post to really get too many decent designers interested ... if you don't know what you want, how is a designer supposed to deliver even close?

As I'm sure you can imagine, designers often get told 'do me up something and if I like it I'll pay you and if not I'll just show it to the next designer as a what not to do example' ...

A good basic start is for you to at least have an idea of what colors you like or a few samples of what you want from designers ... your point 5 scared me away and I'm sure most other designers too. If you can't even give us a basic guide like a color scheme or an idea of what you do or don't like, its pretty certain you aren't going to like or pay for the designs given to you.

What you are basically asking is for freelance designers to research, compose and design for free what you should be paying someone to do or partly doing yourself ...
