How many people work on salary for the big porn companies?

http://www.msnbc.com/news/809823.asp

The thing that blew me away in this article is that Adult Freind Finder has 150+ full time employees on salary. I'm just curious, anyone know how many employees the big porn sites have on salary?

Adult.com?
Cybererotica?
Hustler?
Gamma?

I know I'm leaving out tons of HUGE companies so please forgive me for that - but how about a few of you big guys posting just how many people work for you on a salary?????????????

I know that it's impossible for YOUR little peebrain to comprehend that a free site could employee 5 people, but it's true.
Many TGPs actually employee more people than I do as well.

At one point there were well over 200 here at Porn Profit... Significantly less now but still in the triple digits.

We have 22 and all but one are on salery.

From what I know talking to lots of different companies most the employees are on salery. Most of the larger guys do have a few employees that makes a base salery + commissions or profit sharing.

Not very many people can manage to use the word employee in so many wrong ways, grammatically.

One of the older lessons in business. You can not tell how much a company makes by teh # of employees. I know some 1 man operations in this biz who clear millions a year. I also know some 50 man operations that have a hard time breaking even.

this is totally true.

I would think the credit card processing companies and hosting companies would usually have the most saleried employees here - just my opinion.

Sleazy,

I'm there. In 1998/99 we employed 14 full-time employees for an all free site/search engine/etc operation.

Amen to that brother. It all comes down to profit. If your're company is severely bloated, profit is gonna drop. A one man operation could very easily make millions, employees just make it easier.

Actually, I meant that its hard to believe that you can take time from proving to people who don't care about you, how much you make, and how much bigger you are than them...

To actually watch over any employees you have.

That's why I'm thinking they're family members, solely...

Could care less if you're doing free sites, pay sites, or just spending most of your time here, instead of outside losing weight.

The question I've wanted to ask is that how many of you are really rich. Like making over a million a year. If there is anyone.

Yeah, well Wired Solutions has been around basically since the begining. There was just no webmaster program associated with our sites so most of you wouldn't have heard about us. Back then you had to run all your own servers, content, etc. so it took alot of people to make everything work. Now we outsource alot of that stuff so we were able to cut down alot on employees.

Processors, especially third party, by nature will have a lot of employees. Customer service is a huge part of the job and manning the phones and emails 24/7 is imperative to having good cs. Most customer service employees are not salaried tho -- or at least not what we consider salaried in the states, Sleazy -- they are paid an hourly wage, for the time they are actually at work. If they miss a day, go home early, come in late, stay later, work more than 40 hours a week, they are compensated accordingly.

A salaried employee by definition is one that gets the same amount of money for a full time job that may require 30 hours one week and 60 hours the next. A true salaried employee does not get additional compensation for more than 40 hours of work in a week, nor do they have any money deducted for taking a personal day, sick day, or normal vacation day.

Many of the 'employees' in this industry are contract, not salaried. They get a set amount per week or month, and are responsible for paying their own taxes, get no health insurance or vacation benefits etc, as a salaried employee (or sometimes even an hourly employee) does. This gives them the freedom to work on their own projects at the same time they have a steady income to rely on, and can be set by number of hours, or by number or projects they do in a given time.

good defination - as even my own meger few employees are actually what you would call contract. I pay them for a specific amount of work, not time.

lol, you said that so suprised, as if you thought taking it face to face was really an option with your weight?

then again, I'm thinking your gut may get in the way of my ass as well...

Maybe you should break out the complicated series of pullies and mirrors again?

at one time I had about 12 people on salary and then realized I didn't really need that many people. Actually I DID need that many people, because I hired telecommuters from within the industry.

Now I have two programmers and one designer (I just fired a designer and I'm looking for another) hired from dot-coms. I realized that I get about 4x as much work from an in-office 9-5 guy as I do from a telecommuter.

I was just about to post the same thing. We have 7 full time employees and i know for a fact that our revenue exceeds that of companies with 10x as many...

sometimes lots of employees is just a sign of bad hiring skills and poor efficiency.
