Has anyone looked at the VOD sites as a content source for pirates?

How secure are VOD company sites? Do they keep their shit locked down? How do we know that these companies keep OUR content from being leeched and downloaded? What kind of security measures are in place to protect OUR content?

The "tube" and "torrent" video that I've seen of our products, does NOT come from our web sites. The sizing is wrong, the resolution is different. It's just not the same video. Which focuses my questions toward the VOD companies and DVD ripping.

I've been wondering this for a while. It would be nice if someone from the VOD companies could address this topic.

I've been wondering this for a while. It would be nice if someone from the VOD companies could address this topic.

The top major VOD companies all use some form of DRM to protect the content. Several VOD companies don't offer downloads. Most of the ones that do have a contract clearing them for downloadable DRM movies that expire. This is often the same rule for promo content. VOD Companies and DVD Companies actually work together closely on a lot of things.

DRM'ed movies can be recored, you can out-put the record and rip it. Just like a person could drive down to a DVD store and rip the DVD. These are extremes though. Nobody can do anything to stop a person set on stealing something.

DRM'ed movies aren't clips, they are one complete burn of the entire DVD and the software breaks it into viewable sections, like clips.

The different movie types, sizes, ect that you see is easy to explain. Your members do this, forums, tubes, torrents, p2p, irc, ect all have different file types, formats, sizes, ect and a lot of people that can touch your content. As an example on IRC, people will re-rip the same movie to change the file size so they can get more uploads in. Tube scripts can also modify sizes, bit rates, restamp, ect.

There is nothing wrong with VideoBox. They use older videos which are licensed from the studios. You will not find any surfer uploads of entire members area.
