The Future in Porn Downloads

Welcome back to 2007 ..has this happened or is it happrning now?

For me these statments stood out

"Rather than aiming to download high-quality movies either permanently or temporarily, it seems that the majority of adult viewers are quite happy with short spurts of viewing, using relatively low-resolution streaming protocols."

"Customers do not want to watch entire movies," Cohen said. "They want to watch scenes. They might watch a scene once or twice, then they move on - but they come back to the site over and over again."

"
Of course, there's a critical difference here which we'll try and elucidate tastefully. With rare exceptions (for which medical treatment is now available), most porn viewers don't want to watch an adult movie in its entirety, since their functional purpose is unlikely to stretch to 90 minutes or more. With rare exceptions (Battlefield Earth springs to mind), most mainstream viewers do want to watch movies in their entirety. Nonetheless, the trend seems worth noting."

"
Those who don't want to be anonymous may well be cheapskates. According to a recent NPD Group study, 60% of the content on file sharing networks is porn movies."

"
Cohen predicts a rapid demise for 'conventional' adult sites which aim to achieve a recurring monthly subscription for a particular set of content. "Membership sites for adult content are dying," Cohen said. "The consumer is sick and tired of having to pay every month. We get so many emails from people saying 'Please cancel', and we have to send a mail saying 'There's nothing to cancel'."

the only thing he was right about was that the recurring paysite model is dying - but it ain't dying because of his PPM model - he's just as fucked as anybody else by the Tube sites - surfers don't want to be charged by the month, they don't want to be charged by the minute either - they want it FREE and the fucking idiots in this industry are obliging and teaching the new generation of porn surfers that there's no reason to pay for porn.

when i am forced to go tube site - i have a list of programs who have done their part to make tube sites what they have become. needless to say when my tube site launches there won't be an update missing from any of these programs - there won't be a need to join any site in those programs.

Wait a sec...

You're saying its the "fucking idiots" in the industry giving it away for free (which I agree with).

But then you say "...when I am forced to go tube site..."

Won't that place you among the legions of "fucking idiots"?

Some good observations, but many points are off, and I always love when they do not cite real facts to back this stuff up.

Yes. Some of the pay site models are dying, but these issues are simply too complex to sum up in a single article. Niche versus mainstream porn. Those who update 3-7 times a week versus those who do it ONCE A WEEK OR MONTH. Cross sales, and plenty of other things.

It would have to be a 'series' of articles to accurately cover everything going on right now, and I have yet to see one that truly lays out the facts.... good and bad.... of the issues.

I find most of them tell their perspective from board threads and opinion. Not all the facts. Some programs and sites are hurting. Some of them no longer convert good. Some are using 1997 tactics. Some of the TGP's are dying. Some of the tubes are doing well. Some of the dating sites, and advertising, is working.

But I digress...
