I read in the article that gas supplies are high...at that point in time...and I know that there has been some increase in refining capacity...but a shortage of oil is not the problem at this point...it is still the refining capacity that is the major problem. If the world was glutted with gas then the price of gas would drop to some extent...but over all the price of gas will continue to steadily climb as oil itself is a finite resource and world demand is continuing to climb. Alternative fuels will be increased more and more but they will always be higher than fossil fuels. Societies will simply have to make adjustments as fossil fuels dwindle.

Maybe they should spend some of those billions in profits to build more refinaries... and standardize on fuel accross all the states so they don't have to refine different shit for everyone... but then again.. they wouldn't be able to use refining etc. as an execuse to jack up prices anymore..

Anyway there statement actually makes no sence. This so called "mismanagement" of the U.S. economy has no reflection on Oil Prices seeing how OPEC themselves set the prices and out put levels. One dosent reflect the other. And if the market didnt need more Oil they might want to expalin why Germany, France and India have already sought out supplies from Brazils new found deposits and a slightly higher price. |

I could solve the whole issue in a day. Tell those fucking saudis they better rethink about pumping more oil. Give them the coordinates of a spot in the desert and tell them to look closely. Send in a cruise missile. Tell them the next one will have a nuke attached and is gonna hit their palace. Ask them again if they will pump more oil. Rinse and repeat for every one of those fucking scumbag countries over there. Then tell the US automakers that they have one year to come up with electric cars and ban all fossil fuel burning auto's from being built by 2010. Give huge tax breaks to renewable fuel, and huge tax increases to big oil. Use that tax increase to build and improve all US infrastructure, especially our neglected power grid. Prosecute all oil and military companies for war profiteering. Bring the troops home immediately. |

Ok ... I'll let you guys in on a little secret:
The reason why Crude Oil price reached 109 US Dollars per barrel is NOT because OPEC reduced production and it's not because of higher demand. It's mainly because the price of Crude Oil is quoted in US fucking Dollars and the USD has been taking a massive beating lately. It doesnt cost them more to produce oil today than what it did a few years ago and supplies are on the same levels as before. However since the value of the USD dropped about 15-20% this year alone for the oil & gas companies to continue to make the same profit, as lets say last year, they need increase the price by 15-20% to cover the difference. So .. in short, the US Dollar and US economy in general, is MAINLY to blame for high gas prices. ![]()

You dumb pathetic red neck looser ... I am not even in the US right now and unlike you I occasionally read up a little bit before posting something about who is to blame about anything. If you think I am some kind of idiot (like you) who shapes his opinion based on something that was on FOX then you are even dumber than your dumb ass comments make you appear to be. Why the fuck would OPEC pump out more oil? Just because the US doesn?t like paying more at the pump? Get real you fucking moron. Prices went up even though production was unchanged. What does that tell you? I am not saying that if the increased production it wouldn?t make an impact, but even that would be temporary because the USD will just keep getting weaker all the time. For this issue to be resolved Crude Oil prices need to start getting quoted on a stronger currency (EURO for example). SEE SIG ![]()

you are right about the dollar and oil relationship obviously. and it is only going to get worse as a couple more interest rate cuts are on the way but it actually is costing more to pump oil these days, and as the world does more advanced drilling to find more oil it will get even more expensive. but overall, yes, its the dollar, not OPEC that is the problem, but its easy for american gov't to blame the brown man in the middle east, instead of looking to itself and admit that it is the reason why oil is so high |

Some good posts in this thread.
If we put a man on the moon 40 years ago, we can build another refinery or two. Let's get it done!
