Still looking. Not looking for a simple designer in flash... need the knowledge to make skip-ahead flash stuff on non-streaming servers and make it FAST. (to code if required)

If you want to support seeking, you need to be able to stream it, or you have to buffer the whole thing.

There's no magical way to make a webserver support something that it does not. You have to build the support into it or build one hell of a hack using Content-Range, which is the wrong approach.

HTTP pseudo-streaming - Progressive Download using server side scripting to allow random access to parts of the video that have not yet loaded.

Choosing which method is better for you depends on your application, target audience, capabilities of your server and lastly your pocketbook.

HTTP pseudo-streaming is not just for the "little guy" and can be used in most applications and deployment environments. Video blogs, Online product presentations, E learning, Movie trailers, Web Tv and many more can benefit from this method of deployment. The most important factor to know is the number of simultaneous PHP connections your web-server allows.

Not the solution if you have 100 requests per second... fine for anything else and for cheap. Looking for somebody who understands all this.

I have it setup and it work great! I might add that its installable only by highly skilled (linux command line guru) person that understand how a linux box works. I am using it for multiple things including flash video streaming, live video chat, broadcasting live events, etc. Its basically an Open Source version of the Flash Media Server and free...
