fucking thunderbird: changed smtp server, cant send anymore

so i changed smtp server to test it. I read on the internet that when you change it, it asks a password at the start of the first message you send. It doesnt do that, it just gives me an error it cant connect. So i change it back to the smtp server i used a few minutes before, and push send. Same error, without any fucking password prompt. I tried a few more of my smtp servers ive never used before in thunderbird (so youd think it will ask for a password) but same fucking story with every new smtp server i add! Do i need to dig in profile folders or something? Damn this shit is so user friendly. A 1 minute testing operation has become a 1 hour frustration session - like almost all the things i do on the pc. Am i a retard or something?

Are you sure you didn't set 'Special Transport' that would tie that account to that specific SMTP server?

i have deleted all the saved password; it now only asks a password when i get mail, when i send a mail it doesnt ask for a password it just gives the connection error again.

edit: never heard of and cant find 'special transport' at thunderbird help

I can't put up an image because for some damn reason my router has the arp cache poisoned for GoDaddy. Joy. If you right click on the account, go under properties, then click the account name, down towards the very bottom it has 'SMTP SERVER'. See if that's set to a 'bad' one.

Thunderbird is a buggy PoS. I regret ever moving to it.
