The clusterfuck in Texas continues

SAN ANGELO, Texas (AP) - Half the mothers from a polygamist sect that Texas child welfare authorities put in foster care as children have now been declared adults.

Attorneys for Child Protective Services say 15 of the 31 mothers are adults. One is actually 27.

Another girl listed as an underage mother is 14, but the state has conceded she is not pregnant and does not have a child.

The underage mothers had been cited as evidence that the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints committed widespread sexual abuse of girls.

State officials raided a ranch run by a polygamist sect in west Texas. Their contention that abuse was widespread led to the removal of more than 460 children.

I registered my indignation at the *tactics* used when it first came out that the initial phone call of complaint was a blatant hoax.

Now the texas court has ruled that CPS had no right to remove any of the children because they failed to prove that any of them were in "imminent danger".

Blunders are bigger in Texas. Hate to say it if crimes and abuse were happening. But for fucks sake, you have to be able to PROVE it to a court.

I think you should have your compound raided, hell your whole community is built on sucking tax dollars thru social welfare programs. My personal belief is that religion really is "the opium of the masses" but I do believe that people should be free to believe what they wish and practice religion as they choose as long as said religion does not condone or encourage the harm of others.


Due process? The FLDS gave up their due process the moment they harbored fugitives from justice and violated federal laws.

sadly there are a lot of people who hold religious viewpoints but don't condone harm of others...they don't get the same headlines as a fuckstick with a bomb in an abortion clinic...
