Most sites in other countries add this info even if they don't need to simply because some members think the site might be some kind of government conspiracy if they don't.

you really think so? I don't think porn sites members give a fuck about 2257

but I think some paranoid US webmasters might be afraid to promote a non US based program if they don't have 2257... or some paranoid non US webmasters may be scared to run sites without the 2257 statement
