European Bank Accounts?

My processor has advised me that I need to find myself a bank account in Europe, so they can deposit the funds of my merchant account

Does anyone here have any experience or advice on how I as a US resident can establish a European bank account that accepts both Euros and USD?

You will most likelly have to go there by person. I dont know of EU banks opening non resident accounts without you beeing on sight.

Never tried various "companies" that advertise that do that over the internet however, since they would then also hold my info, which i dont like.

What about banks in Switzerland. I am quite sure they will set you up without showing up in person there.

From what I understand of Swiss bank accounts, they are for investment accounts and not commercial/trading accounts

And Switzerland isnt in the SEPA list which is

SEPA (Single European Payments Area) countries include Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, Ireland, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain.

That is the general rule yes

I have spoken to a few banks, and they say that if I have an existing European company my nominee director can represent me

There are some banks which have reps in states. But most likely you have to visit bank in person to open bank account. If you open bank account for company make sure your processor can make wires to that account. Sometimes processors can make wires only to the account of a person (personal bank account) who signed the contract.

Hrm the other ones I know over there require a EU corp. That's strange from your processor though, too small in what way? Does your processor only have a list of a few huge Euro banks they accept? That'd be strange indeed.

In most countries you need a residence in the same country where you want to open a bank account.

HSBC is a world wide bank, and they have offices in the states. You may be able to do it with them.

I do have a EU corporation yes - but the CC processor doesn't think that solution via Benny was solid enough via that particular bank - groan. I have no idea what they mean or how they came to that decision

No need to be an EU resident to open a bank account, however you will need to have a company .. US or EU both works. But you will need to get in person to the bank in EU with the company's papers (apostile, formation documents, minutes etc) and open the account in person. Most EU banks have an international banking department so its quite easy.

Regards
