Any WW2 buffs here?

WW2 US helmet. Sale price of $5,692.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=170230677473

I'm guessing the paint job markings must have been traced to something famous. Does anyone know what? I'm curious to know.

I collect alot of WWI & WWII stuff.. Fucking crazy on that helmet.. It's not WWII issue as the WWII era ones were fixed bail and that one in the photos is swivel bail making it post WWII possibly Korea or Vietnam

The symbol for the 327th Glider Infantry Regiment was a club (3-leaf clover)

If you go here to a page on them

http://www.ww2-airborne.us/units/327/327.html

You can see that this pic has the square as well on the side as the helmet

The clover is in the wrong place on the helmet.. In the pictures on the site you linked the clover, heart, spade, etc are on the side but the auction helmet has the clover on the rear and it looks sloppy unlike the ones in the photos of the auction one.. Very hard to tell about the bails with the liner in the way, but they look like swivel bail to me and WWII helmets were fixed bail

yes in the helmet you have a cut-edge division path

Not crazy about the color, but hey if thats all you had out there at the time they painted.

It could be a 3rd infantry division patch

I don't do ebay simply because as I look at bidding - it always looks to me that the seller has accounts that he bumps up the price of the bids. Look at a portion of this particular auction:

i***5( 396Feedback score is 100 to 499) US $2,689.99

2***e( 0 ) US $2,600.00

m***a( 378Feedback score is 100 to 499) US $2,488.00

i***5( 396Feedback score is 100 to 499) US $2,004.99
Jun-21-08 21:17:45 PDT

i***5( 396Feedback score is 100 to 499) US $1,856.99
Jun-21-08 21:17:25 PDT

i***5( 396Feedback score is 100 to 499) US $1,656.99
Jun-21-08 21:17:06 PDT

i***5 is bumping the price without being outbid.
