He has said it many times.

I have defended McCain against those here who have called him a "loser" because he was captured. He served this country honorably and deserves our respect and graditude.

This clip is an example of how a sound bite can be used to unfairly portray an individual.

We need to stop the dirty tricks being played in politics and concentrate on the candidates' stances on the real issues.

McCain might have been elected president in 2000 and Kerry may have won in 2004 if not for the tricks done to them.

Honestly, I've felt a little naive and uninformed regarding the election, but in retrospect, I'm honestly begining to think the best decision is to completely ignore what the media has to say about the candidates.

If you really want to decide, stop looking to the TV and youtube. Start going to the library to start reading what they really say, and how they act.

Most importantly, look all around you. Look at the high price of gas, look at the unemployment, look at the increasing homelessness. Look at inflation creep up. You know this is all different than eight years ago.

Ask yourself, will the person I elect make things better, or will everything keep rolling downhill?

What is more disturbing though is how Obama mentioned in a speech the other day that his camp is ready for the attacks from the GOP, then he went on to list all the things he's afraid of. He's young, he's untested, oh and by the way he's black. And all the news did was say how he's "getting ready" for attacks based on his race. Dan Abrams was the one that found the clip and started playing it. Also said he had no problem with the comments his only point was that you could twist his words just like they were doing to Michelle Obama.

there's been plenty of coverage of the policy issues of both candidates. this election process has been dragging on for over a year now, that is well more than ample time to familiarize oneself with the issues of interest.

however what is of equal importance to formal, legal issues are also matters of character & personal habits. does the candidate have a tendency to waiver on issues? all politicians do so to some extent or another, but what is the reason for doing so? making the correct decision based on newly available information, or flip-flopping purely for the sake of political gain (popularity)?

do they have a long established track record of standing by their own decisions and stated goals, or do they vote almost exclusively along party lines and display no ability or willingness to compromise?

who else are we letting into the white house by electing them? what are their friends and (close) associates like that may be in a position to influence them? does their spouse give any significant indications of resentment, hostility, or disloyalty to the country?

these matters can all have a much more profound impact than mere stated policies, and as such should be discussed in equal measure as the policies of the candidates.

discussing these issues is not a mere extension of senseless mud-slinging and gossiping as the public might do toward a hollywood celebrity, it is an important and integral part of the political process, and we do ourselves a disservice by ignoring them.
