Best Domain Registrar - EVER!!!!

last week one of my staff advised me that we lost one of our operational domains

Huge fuck up on his part

So I contact my domain registrar and say - "please help, we lost an important domain name and someone else picked it up"

So - the CEO of this domain registrar gets on the phone to the company that picked up my domain name

And guess what - he got my domain back for me

And the company involved - Moniker.com

Monte - you are fucking wonderful for helping a webmaster in such a shit situation

I have a pile of domains still with Fabulous and I am going to get my staff to transfer them all to you right now

Guys - you may save a few $$$ not being with a registrar like Moniker - but domains are like real estate, and you need someone like Monte on your side

Thank you Monte - You rock!

so you had a operational domain out of order for more then 30 days, and someone managed to take it before you noticed it? or did Moniker sell it to someone else during the 30 day REGISTRY-HOLD period?

This story sound "strange"

Monte really comes through for his customers. He came through for me recently on some advice and it was excellent. Moniker is the kind of company only a guy like Monte could run.

If you're not using Moniker, you can do better. Bari and Chris are excellent, timely, know all the right people and work hard for you.

Based on my experiences with Moniker over the last 2 weeks or so and the fact that their control panel sucks...I've been considering leaving them.

I was happy with them in the past though.

So ingnoring the 30 DAY on hold and the bazzilion emails the domain is going to expire you get three months before it expires is a "misstake"?
I call it plain old stupidity and if you ignore the actions taken to let people know a domain is going to expire you deserve loosing it

I dont belive you
There is a 30 day REGISTRY-HOLD period where the domain wont point to the site. After that period is ended, the domain can be picked up by someone else. That means for someone to pick it up, the domain need to be out of order for a month+

Are you telling me that you had a "operational domain" out of order for 30 days? IF that was true, you call that "an honest mistake" ?

Bullshit . I dont belive your story

Add some of the stories from the last 6 months including said company, makes your story even less believable

I've heard a lot of good things about Moniker - they have as good a rep as any other registrar. Have spoken briefly to Monte before as well and he came across as a top man.

Is the 30 day registry hold period the same with all registrars? I didn't think it was.

not entirely true. But it's not relevant to the topic, so I think it would be wrong to start nitpicking in someone elses business. Not my job to do that

Not relevant? I didn't bring the point up.

It is relevant though, that Moniker may delete and/or resell an expired domain at any time after the domain registration has expired.

They do provide a grace period, but are not obliged to.

The one thing I am happy to say is that Bari and most of the other Moniker employees are very easy to reach and work with.

I appreciate your offer of a walk through but the fact that your site almost requires one is what bothers me in the first place. I used enom for a number of years and never once needed a walk through.

You have good service and they have a better control panel. The truth is I prefer better service.

Speaking of which.....I've just left you a voicemail about another topic.

Moniker...is okay. As a registrar they are good, definitely much safer to have names with than most others (*coughGODADDYcoughENOMcough*). I haven't logged into my account in a while but they've had domains still listed in there that I sold a year and a half ago...that's kind of annoying but whatever, I know well enough I don't own them anymore.

What I DON'T like about Moniker is they seem to be live event domain auction kryptonite. I've had maybe 2-3 transactions go smoothly, and I define smoothly in those situations as 3 weeks or less simply because I AM aware it can take a while to get the buyers to cough up the cash. But god, in maybe the other 9 or 10 transactions, we're talking 1-3 months...they would only ever contact me on it if I initiated contact, i.e. no updates or anything, and in the one case of someone ultimately not responding to them after I paid for the name, they refunded me...5 MONTHS later. Again, I contacted them maybe 8 or 9 times during that time, I had to always initiate contact and around 4 months I was demanding my money back since it was apparent they couldn't get this seller (plus they even found out he sold the domain weeks after the auction to someone else!) and it still took them that long to refund my money.

The time hassle in dealing with them vs. the increased amount of exposure and sometimes price I can get for names is tough to weigh out sometimes. But yea, as a registrar they're fine. Fabulous kicks ass though...I'm surprised you would give up your relationship with them though it WAS cool what Monte did.

I been with only 1 register for the last 10 years.. and not once did I ever need to contact anywhere there, never any problems transferring or buying domains and I been through hundreds of them.

Must really suck losing domains and having problems and than blaming others.

Could you imagine.. ah fuck.. my bank didn't send me a 30 day notice that I must pay my mortage.. I lost my house.. stupid banks.. but thanks to these new banks they saved my house and took over the mortage and they will send me notices every week to let me know I must pay..

I call it plain old stupidity and if you ignore the actions taken to let people know a domain is going to expire you deserve loosing it
the person I have who handles our domains renews the domains not long before they are due.

At the same time he was doing some DNS work with our mail servers and screwed up our incoming mail server

The latter emails got zapped and he missed the renewals

We have built a new DB system to handle this now, and our Moniker account is now set up to auto renew the domains

I own so many domains that it was about time we consolidated our assets. And I will be consolidating with Moniker now

Thanks for the kind words WeirdHomer - dickhead!

Are you telling me that you had a "operational domain" out of order for 30 days? IF that was true, you call that "an honest mistake" ?

Bullshit . I dont belive your story

Add some of the stories from the last 6 months including said company, makes your story even less believable
the quality of webmaster on GFY has gotten worse

All I was doing was thanking Monte for helping me out, and fucktards like you have to come onboard and piss on everything

We made a mistake - we fucked up - Monte went out of his way and helped us/me

Whats so hard to understand about that?

Moniker rocks.
And please never ever change the control panel for a mound of ajax bullshit like GD did. Their control panel makes me cry.

And you are clearly one of them!! If you fuck up like you did you MUST be a real retard.

BTW: if that domain is so important to you register it for 10 years

If you don't expose the domain name i don't believe a word that you say
