Duplicat Content question

I have a site where people make ads and list "fish"
On the main page it lists all the "fish" of all the regions, but you can deep search:
for example you can find listings of "fish" in various states and cities
"fish" in Kentucky
"fish" in New York

Each listing is about a paragraph in legnth and when they list in Kentucky they also get listed on the main page.

Would I be able to get both the main page and the Kentucky page listed in Google? Even though Kentuckies postings are all on the main page mixed in with all the other states and cities.
Its hard to explain so I hope you understand.

You could get Kentucky if you link into Kentucky with "Kentucky fish"

if I am understanding correctly, both will get listed but one will likely go to supplemental

I would use exerpts on any page they are found that is not the actual "kentucky fish" page. It will minimalize any damage that you might do by doing so.

Really hard to comment without seeing it, and seeing what the spider sees. But generally, don't duplicate the content across your own domain. Many examples can be shown to show its OK, but many also exist to show its detrimental.

Easiest way is to minimize the effect and just use "exerpts". So search pages, categories, the main index, only show a small portion of the content, linking to the full story/article/spam.
