Pool Heater. Do you let yours runs 24/7

I got a brand new Thermo Summit Heat Pump to heat the pool.. I know that there are 2 schools of thoughts on this

Do you let yours run 24 hours a day or only during the week-ends ?

Dunno if you save keeping your water always the same or letting it down a bit when you don't swim that much (week days) and reheat back up for the week-end...

txs forward

i only heat our pool at the end of the summer season (october here) to extend the swimming a few more weeks... it's real expensive though - over a $1k a month to keep the water near 85F

Well Easton, Quebec and Phoenix are a tinny bit different (weatherwise)...

Of course you don't need to heat the pool in summer time, you lucky bastard

Do you put ice in it in July cause it get too hot ?

BTW: Hope to see ya in Montreal this year

It depends on what temp you like the pool and how often you use it.

If you don't keep the heat pumping and you decide you want to go for a swim it's going to take time for the pool to heat up..

Well I actually totally forgot about this post for the last 2 weeks..

Well the pump heats the pool at about 1*F per hour... So keeping it at let's say 84*F runs the pump for about 6 hours a day @ around $0.50/hours, so it's not a big deal to leave it on all the time... Cost around 100$/month.. Totally worths it

We typically use our pool after work with our kids. So in the morning I will turn the heat way up and then in the afteroon it's warmed up considerably. Then when i am done swimming i turn it way down...

I don't know if this is the best use of heat but that is what I do.

I set mine to 82 degrees and it runs for an hour or 2 a day to keep the temp, but we use it almost everyday

My pool isn't heated, so I can't help you there.

But even on the winter, we have 20C temperatures down here. So there's no much use for heating.

We rented a Villa in Orlando for 3 weeks but one of the weekends went down to Miami. We left early on Friday morning but the thursday evening we were in the pool and hot tub with some Vodka and having fun. We forgot to turn the pool heating off and when we got home on the Monday evening there was tons of steam coming from our pool LOL. We got some pics but I can't find them. I wouldn't suggest leaving it on.

Try pissing in it, that should work! When it starts to turn yellow, stop pissing.
