for some reason this always feels a little awkward

it is a natural if you are introduced to a guy that you just meet, but for some reason it doesn't feel as proper when meeting a woman

just introduced myself to a couple of ladies and shook hands and after wondered whether it was the right thing to do

ladies here, what do you think of it?

In the States, I ALWAYS shake hands (male and female), unless I know the person...I feel as though biz etiquette. In Panama even (aka Latin America), women shake hands with men they don't know, and the next time kiss on the cheek.

Kiss on the cheek the first time is for girls...2nd time okay for guys. IMO

In America its not normal to kiss women you're just meeting for the first time. No one has done it to me and if they were to I would not like it. I usually wait for the woman to make the move. If she's leaning towards me I kiss on the cheek, if not I just shake her hand.

I have to say it feels terrible tho. I even kiss guys on the lips when we meet... sometimes we also touch each others balls.

I shake hands at first, but I find lots of Europeans go straight for the hug/kiss on the cheek, which is fine. If I know the person, though, they get a hug/kiss on the cheek.
