firefox has a plugin that I haven't used for awhile that is intended to download various formats of video

Get ORB at orb.com and and install it one of your home servers encode and stream for you.
Also I know that windows media can play flash as if it was an ASX with a flash video player embedded in html windows media, quicktime, real player, all allow playlist with embedded html
