Photographer Gets $12 Million Verdict!!!

Liz Ordonez-Dawes, an accomplished architectural and interior design photographer, recently was awarded more than $12 million dollars for copyright infringement of seven photographs. In brief, the court found that the defendants distributed Ms. Ordonez-Dawes' photos of high-end houses to various third parties for advertisements to sell the houses without authority and with knowledge that such act constituted copyright infringement. The court's Order provides some background of the case as well as the calculation of damages.

How could seven photos of some houses be worth $12 million? Hell, I don't think I could get that much for a set of photos of Miz Clinton felching a donkey. And that's serious blackmail material.

My guess is the plaintiff went for an outlandish amount and the court awarded the full amount when the defendant failed to show up.

I'd be very surprised if the photographer sees even a fraction of that award, tho.

it was default judgement thats why it was so much....

the plantiff asked for a crazy amount and got it because the defendent failed to respond..

this lady wont see a dime of that money....

That story is pretty fucked up.
