Question for Yankees fans or those that have been to Yankee Stadium

I'm planning on taking my Dad and Baby boy to Yankee stadium this year. I've never been so I was wondering a few things.

I'm wondering is there any series that would be better than the RedSox-Yanks in Late August? They only other one I could see is Tampa Sept 12-13-14.

Is there any particular area in the Stadium that is best to sit in? If price is not a concern where is the best place to sit?

Is there anything that is a must do. I heard about the Yankee Stadium tour. Is that worth doing?

Anything else I'm missing. I'm really looking forward to this trip and I'm hoping to make it memorable. So any tips and suggestions are very much appreciated.

Yanks vs Red Sox is great, only thing on that level other than playoff baseball would be Yanks vs Mets - subway series. Sit anywhere close to the field. Make sure to see monument park, thats about it.. You should go real early to see batting practice. Monument park shuts like an hour before game time or so.

if they have something equivalent to the dodgers dugout club type thing do that. you get you meals, food and drink delivered to the box seats. sit a few rows back from first or third base with all the players hot trophy wives and star fuckers. lol. its like going to a baseball game and having every amenity at your fingers. nice restrooms away from the trash throwing vagrants. etc.

Shap,

Right now with TB and the Yanks in this heated chase for the division, and with the brawl those two teams had earlier this year. I would say that series would be the one to make sure you see. I agree with Biggy, make sure you see monument park and BP. Best seats I can think of would be around 10-12 row behind the Yankee Dugout.

Awesome. Great feedback. The Tampa series is on the weekend and the Boston one is during the week so that is nice as well.

Btw is an afternoon game better than a night game?

The brawl was between Red Sox and Rays, not Yankees.

If you want to treat him to something special and price is no object go with Sept 21. Last regular season home game at Yankee Stadium. 5:00pm nationally televised on ESPN.

Hands down the bleachers. Best place to sit in that stadium. Being born and raised in NY, and the Yanks being my favorite team. I have been to hundreds of games through out the years there. Sat just about everywhere you can, and always had the most in the bleachers.

As far as the series. Of course Boston would be the best, but Tampa would be just as good. Hope you get there early to be able to take a tour of the stadium. Have fun man. I plan to make it up to NY before the season ends to watch my last game in that stadium.

I would recommend going to more than one game. The first game go and get some decent seats behind home plate or the first base side, the main reserved are nice seats and for the Red Sox series will be the only ones not priced out of control. This way you can enjoy the game and have a nice relaxing time

The second game, like Omar said, to get the real feel for Yankees stadium you need to sit in the bleachers. The bleachers seats in the Yankees stadium are second only to the those in Wrigley as far die hard real fans go. Even though they won't serve you alcohol in the bleachers. Yankees fans are animals and you will get totally caught up in the ruthless taunting of the oppostions outfielders.

Hell, I sat in the all you can eat seats in bleachers yesterday for the Dodgers vs Nationals game....

I used to only sit in the bleachers when I would see a Yanks game.

Then beer sales were banned in the bleachers, which is perhaps the lamest thing ever.
And since you cannot go to any other part of the stadium except the bleachers when you are in bleacher seats, you are essentially blocked off from the rest of the stadium. So you can't even walk to go get beer.

Keep that in mind when deciding where to sit. Baseball with no beer does not work for me, not sure if it works for you.

Bleachers

Oh, man. This brings me back. I was lucky enough to see Reggie, Bucky, Catfish, Goose, and Guidry play there as a little kid (and Willie Randolph, for like 9 million years), and I'll miss that place.

I agree on the bleachers, so definitely see one from there, but I've always been a fan of the first baseline. I kind of like the second deck, partially because it reminds me of the "good seats" (non-bleachers) we'd get when I was a kid or the time two guys decided to hang the A's fan over the railing by his ankles (I miss old-school New York), but also because you get a fantastic view of the field, particularly if you have a right-hander pitching. And don't forget to pick your train for the subway races!

Have fun!

And if they ever tear down that OTHER Bronx legend, Gaelic Park, I'm laying a hurt on someone. Hurling, Gaelic football, and (at one point) the longest bar in New York!

Right field 300's are the best seats in the house. Short porch = Homerun ball, not to mention it's a great view. Get there early, see Monument Park, watch batting practice (great ball opportunity) and then hangout near the bullpen until the game starts. Tampa is probably your best bet, Red Sox would be cool but all the really good seats have been taken for a while. Then again...game day...ya never know.

I love how the box seat attendee's from that side of the field, and the bleacher attendee's from that same side start arguing with each other!

Bleacher attendee's " Box seats sucks"
Box seat attendee's "Bleachers suck"

Now mind you there are about 5-10k people from each side yelling this at each other. Nothing like a Yankee game
