Mediaset Files EUR500 Million Suit Vs Google's YouTube

They're still fighting Viacom's $1 Billion claim. These legal bills have to be adding up. I wonde how much money Google stands to lose through Youtube?

Youtube is a nice thing in concept, but the fact is it's not a good business model... as G has admitted, and most smaller tube owners have found out. The other day on DP I was looking at some older list of tube sites. Most were now out of business.

The only way to make it popular, and work is with stolen content, and a lot of money for bandwidth...

or one AFF sponsor.

I seriously wonder what the legal bills actually look like. Google loses millions of dollars on bandwidth costs and other non-legal costs associated with Youtube and it's a drop in the bucket for them.

I'm curious, for those of you invested in Google stocks, how are you taking news like this? What are stock brokers recommending? Youtube is only a fraction of the Google empire yet it may become a huge monetary liability. Are shareholders in favor of keeping Youtube in the Google portfolio?

I'm not sure on this but here is my guess.

I think in this case the major share holders are also the ones running the company Page/Brin. So its not like you have a corporate two tier branch of executives and chairmen.

Many stock brokers this week have recommended "BUY" because the stock is near its 52 week low and because of the thing with Yahoo.

Me personally I don't see it. I think there are alot of things that can nibble at Google's profitability.

rofl, Mediaset is owned by Berlusconi - probably one of the shadiest crooks out there... his record of brazen unlawful behavior is endless...
