my mainboard "gigabyte p4titan" is an agp4x supporter
but these new radeon 9500-9700 and 9700pro need agp8x supporter mainboard

you can put an agp 8x card on a 4x mobo the card will just run slower. I own an ATI radeon 8500 and it's pretty nice. One thing about ati though: their drivers suck major ass

Yes - buy it.... You just wont run on the highest standart, but as a Pro hardware man ( I have a company that builds videoediting solutions - MCI ) - you will STILL beat the Geforce4.... And whan you talk OpenGL - it preformes MUCH better than the geforce.

Look at this test

ok but please let me know this

what if i use it with my gigabyte mainboard which supports agp4x maximum

is there too much performance lost with an agp4x mainboard than an agp8x ??

No... you just run agp4x instead of agp8x . If you buy the geforce4, you STILL only run agp4x. Of course it will run faster on a agp8x, but the diff. isent THAT big, since its the processorspeed + Ram interface on the grafx-card that is the most important thing

Don't buy old cards -- buy new ones! 9700 or Ti 4600.

ATI drivers are bawlz. Way to many problems.

If you can wait til next month the GeForce 5 will hit the market and it's promised to own your mom .

If money is a consideration get the TI4400. You can get the Asus TI4400 for about $200 US and it's a stellar card. The TI4600 is phat but it's 33% more for not that much difference, imo.

Always go Nvidia, hell when you fire up Unreal Tournament it says that it's designed for Nvidia technology. A video card isn't shit w/out a good.... or great driver.

While I hold my opinion in high regard, you may want to have the opinions of the people who really beat the shit out of their hardware, gamers. Check www.thefiringsquad.com, I've never been disappointed with their recommendations.
