AMSTERDAM - De volgende versie van Microsofts webbrowser Internet Explorer biedt gebruikers meer mogelijkheden om hun privacy op internet te waarborgen, waaronder een zogenoemde 'pornoknop'.
Die laatste functie, door Microsoft 'InPrivate Browsing' gedoopt, activeert een modus waarbij de browser niet vastlegt welke sites de gebruiker heeft bezocht. De sites worden niet opgenomen in de browsergeschiedenis, zogenoemde cookies worden niet bewaard, en gebruikersnamen en wachtwoorden niet opgeslagen. Apples webbrowser Safari beschikt al langer over zo'n functie, die onder gebruikers bekend staat als de 'pornomodus'. Volgens Microsoft, dat iedere associatie met volwassen vermaak zelf zorgvuldig vermijdt, is zo'n knop een veelgevraagde uitbreiding van de webbrowser.
