Nikon D-60 - finally broke down & got a camera [pics]

I started out with an amateur Camera obviously....I wasn't about to spend 2k learning how to shoot. Anyways here are 2 of the first photos I got to take this afternoon.....I love the look of the camera though, people just assume you're a professional & get out of the way : )

Anyways i got a 8-gig sansdisk ultra II card....& no extra flash yet, just using the on board. P.S. these photos look better in full size, I need to re-install Photoshop.

A guy with a nice "custom"....he moved right out of the way as soon as i came up. Man i love these professional looking digi's

Bikers are out enjoying the last days of summer here in Town.

i don't want to sound like a smart ass, but take the first pic: move a little to the left and go down on your knees. be careful not to cut off the rear tyre - and you have a great pic

Congrats on your new d40.

The first temptation is to shoot everything on full auto settings. Go ahead and try that out a while. You'll get decent results.

But you'll graduate from 'man-with-camera' to a real photographer once you start using and understanding the advanced capabilities of the manual settings. Using bulb setting for long exposure shots at night often produces some startling results.

Don't be afraid to experiment. When you're done experimenting - experiment some more. The more you tinker with things, the better you'll understand the camera's capabilities and how to quickly get the best results.

Good luck.

wtf, you forgot about the framing already.. dont always think whatever is in the middle needs to be in the middle, look at the square frame in the viewfinder and make sure the tires are not cut off...

colors and lighting look good tho.. and nice bike ;)

if you buy new lens for it, make sure they are compatable. the d40/d60 doesnt have a focus motor, so if you by a nikon lens, you need one that is af-s, sigma is hsm, dont know about tonikna or tamron(af-s, hsm, means the lens have thier own motor to auto focus the lens)
if your going to get a aftermarket flash, the nikon sb600 is great, with tll and manual settings its a breeze to use

dont forget lighting, that was the biggest 'holy shit' moment when i first got into photography..sure..my d300 and good glass helps, but if you cant control light it doesnt matter what kind of camera you use.

very cool pr0! We were talking in Miami about you getting into photography...

The D60 is a decent starter camera. I had the D70s, and it served its purpose for me..
