Hey iPhone owners...
I have been experiencing a strange glitch with my iPhone for the past couple of days and I just realized the problem so I thought I would share.
I'd be on a call when the sound would cut in and out. Or the keystroke tick sounds would go away and then come back. Or just about any sounds would go away but come back when it felt like it. Obviously a sound problem. I thought my iphone was fried, or at least the earpiece was somehow done. By playing with the external volume controller you get a display on the screen, and at the same time it tells you what you're adjusting. I noticed that it was saying "headphones" while I was adjusting, but no headphones were plugged in. The sound was being played, but to the headphones that weren't plugged in. I plugged in the headphones and bingo... sound is back and no more problems. I pulled them out and the phone recognized it, so no more problems at all (for now). I guess I just had to kind of "reset" the headphones jack by plugging in and then immediately out.

Power it completely off and restart it, that usually fixes it for me!

I actually posted the fix in my original message. Powering down didn't work when I tried it. Thanks!
