Best video capturing software

I know of camtasia and hypercam but havn't tried any of them.

Which one do you recommend ?

I just use the one that comes with my editor. Vegas capture or some shit. I never even thought of using a different one. What would be the advantage of using different capture software than what came with your editor?

The OP is probably asking about how to record webcam shows or screen capture what is displaying on his computer, not how to capture DV or HDV footage to an editing app.

PS- When I filmed in DV I always preferred a dedicated capture app like Scenalyzer Live over Premiere's capture feature because it had some neat features, incl the ability to be minimized in the background while capturing and also capture four channels of audio at once.

Ahh.

Vegas capture can run in the BG, while you render one scene (or two) and edit another at the same time.
