Frozen pizza should be outlawed!

The worst frozen food ever is pizza.

Mob hitmen should take care of the makers of this horrible crap.

If you love pizza and don't live in New York city then don't ever go to NYC,
because once you get a taste of real pizza you can't enjoy the stuff you were used
to anymore and frozen is like being in hell.

Chicago has some good pizza as well, so does Milwaukee... any bigger city with a large Italian community... but I digress.

Yes, frozen pizza sucks - but there are some that are palatable, usually at the opposite ends of the price spectrum. Freschetta's aren't bad, nor are some of the cheap cheap brands... and tombstone is ok when you are in a bar, somewhat drunk, watching your favorite team.

Chicago is famous for pizza too, I was a kid when I last had chicago pizza.

But what is the deal? It's some crust with some sauce and cheese!!!
Why can't it be made delicious everywhere?

I used to like pizza hut until I went to NY. Maybe pizza hut changed while I was
living there, but I avoid pizza hut like crazy now. I don't eat there unless I desparate.
I think I got spoiled on NY pizza and pizza hut is the same as always but now I know it's
lame.

No energy to wash up and comb hair/look semi-presentable in order to deal with the delivery man. Like if I just woke up and feel like pizza, I have no energy to wash and deal/interact with another person. Its also faster to eat frozen pizza, it takes longer than 30 min to wait for delivery now. I dont eat pizza hut btw, but round table pizza takes 40 min some days.

I have no energy to get up and leave the house, wash up, comb hair, walk to car, get in car, start car, drive car, drive there, drive home, wait at red lights, walk in to get it, etc.. etc in order to buy it either. frozen is most convenient.

I agree with all your points, but the taste is worth it to order fresh anyway.
Pizza is good and it's a let down to have a bad pizza.

People that eat frozen pizza may as well just melt some cheese onto the box it comes in and eat that. Tastes about the same imo.

I do not get it, it can be made in about the same time it takes to prepare frozen or order delivery. Wont get the best crust in the world as that takes a day at least, yet you can even skip crust preparation with the variety of frozen crust that is available today and still end up with a much better pizza than you could get delivered anyways.

Not sure why anyone would want a crappier product for 15-25 bucks for a medium at like round table when you can make a killer one for about 6 bucks tops if you use frozen crust. Plus nobody really can honestly use the lazy excuse either they are as simple as shit to make with a prepared crust and it is super easy to keep the ingredients on hand.

Only real trick to remember is if you eat a lot of pizza, keep a few 12x12 bricks in the bottom of your oven all of the time. Hell I do that and I do not even eat pizza often as I use them for other dishes.

Holds onto heat and radiates it which allows for more stable temps in your oven since many will kick on and off trying to maintain a stable heat. When you preheat you can also place the pizza directly on brick and this will crisp the crust much better as well as cook it from underneath. Not to mention the bricks are very dry (better for crust) and gas ovens technically are not 100% dry heat. Electric of course is dry but often heats from the top and again the bricks would heat from the bottom and also maintain heat as oven turns on and off.

Just make sure you start with clean bricks. Most of the 12 inch by 12 inch patio paving bricks you can get from any home supply place will do, just run them through dishwasher (no soap) before use to remove any dust/particles. Costs a few bucks, or you can go to a fancy kitchen store and spend 20-50 bucks on a pizza stone for your oven that does same thing.

Too much work... baking a frozen pizza in the oven takes way too long with pre-heating the oven etc but MICROWAVING the pizza is even better... They have ones wear you use the "crispy foil thing" so that the pizza is supposed to be crispy even when you microwave it... And it only takes 2 minutes max whereas with even baking a frozen pizza its at least 15 min in the oven... I'm talking about the frozen pizza you buy at the grocery store thats is already finished with toppings and then you just microwave it.

Frozen crust your way is WAY too much work, that means you have to put on the toppings yourself, like the pepperoni and sauce and sprinkle on the cheese, etc and then place it on foil to bake etc... I am so lazy that I cannot even do that.

I want to just rip open the container and throw it in the microwave.

I will eat it if someone else makes it but I'm too lazy, I can't.

Celeste 4-Cheese Pizza, which includes a silver crisper disk to place underneath when microwaving, tastes pretty good.

I'm okay with certain frozen pizzas. I do it up in the oven, then when it's nearly done I pull it out, put a bunch of extra cheese on it (and sometimes extra toppings that are already cooked), then fire it back in the oven for another five minutes and voila.... that shitty frozen pizza becomes something worth eating.

By itself with no extra cheese/topings, no not so much.

Yeah, Tombstone is the better of the frozen for sure.

Once I got used to those hot out the oven pizzarias in New York though it was over.
You order one slice and do it everyday.

A friend of mine who moved from here in Chicago to Florida has me send him frozen Pizzas packed in dry ice from the local places here. He says there is not one good Pizza place anywhere in Florida.

Same with my brother in Portland. I went to visit him and we went to the "best" pizza place in town and it tasted like shit.

New York and Chicago are the only towns for pizza. Frozen is OK in a pinch, but nowhere near as good as a fresh pizza from a good place.

You know some real cooking secrets man. You should make a blog about that shit or something. I got electric owen, and i fire only the bottom heater, but it's still not always as crips. I never thought of bricks. On what do you put the brick? Since the heater is at the bottom, won't it overheat since it would be in direct contact with the heater? I got a fan also, which is supposed to like make the heat more even with the airflow, but that shit only dries the pizza rofl.

Wire rack if your heating element is right on the bottom.
Since I personally have a gas stove I can place them right at the bottom if I wish but I also elevate them about 3 inches with a rack.

Nah your oven will not over heat. Though I would still elevate them some, even bottom oven rack will work.

I have thought about a blog for awhile. Just not sure if I really would devote the time to it. Perhaps I will, I been sitting on some domains forever. Guess maybe I just needed someone to encourage me to do it.

Will try that shit next time and see how it goes :P

I like to make all the food and grow my own (or buy from people that grow their own), tastes so much different then whatever you buy anywhere. However, i suck at cooking, wife is better, but there's always some details i pick up around. I saw your other post when you were preparing meat and there were some cool tips there aswell :P

Ya I cook most everything, grow a lot of veggies, buy most of our beef from a whole steer that we dictate how is raised, etc. For some reason I have always been very into it. Still make a lot of things from scratch that seem trivial to most. Thanks for showing some interest in my ramblings.

Ya, I'm sure they really listen to your request on "how your steer is raised."

Sorry to be the one to break the news.

I know the rancher personally. Can visit any time and do every two weeks to pick up some manure for our compost. Not sure what is so hard to fathom about being able to specify about hormones, antibiotics, free range, etc. Hell I see the invoices for all of it anyways from the vet visits all the way down to feed costs.

There is a life outside of cities you know. Same goes for our eggs, our chickens, and pigs. Though the pigs are typically from either FFA or 4H farms.

Any city with Italians in it should have good pizza....

That's like me complaining about not being able to find a good fried chicken place.....As long as there are Negroes and Chinks, I get all the fried chicken I need...

Hell, back in my hometown, there's an ITALIAN place that can fry the hell out of some chicken....crispy and salty like I like it.

I like working-class snobs. "AH AH, ME I EAT REAL PIZZAS, YOU EAT FROZEN AH AH AH."

Pathetic.

There's a really good pizza place (owned by an Italian family that moved the business from NY) near where I live that has the best sauce. I'm convinced that the sauce is the secret to why their pizzas are so much better than any other place.

Any do-it-yourselfers here know a good pizza sauce recipe?

Depends on the style you like, type you like, etc. Plus do you tend to like tangy, sweet, or savory?
