My Garmin rocks. I used it to drive from Florida to Cali and I managed not to get lost in the desert. It's definitely handy in a strange city.

I have the tom tom one if you dont care for the bells and whistles (I already have an mp3 player, dont give a fuck about traffic reports or weather and dont care about countoured terrain)
I like it because it updates itself and its the only one that offers adult entertainment as a POI that alone should score points here

I love my Garmin nüvi 660. I paid around six hundred when I bought it but now Amazon is selling it for $289.99.

Buy a MIO. It has preinstalled Mio 3.3 GPS software, or you can install iGO. It will be the best choice. I've seen many tests between Mio, Garmin or other systems, and Mio is the best choice for low costs and best performance.

I have the Garmin Nuvi 300 and it is pretty good, Fuck you can even change the voice to an american woman, she sounds hot, fucks up my driving sometimes cause I am day dreaming about her instead of concentrating on the road. My one has european maps, mp3 player, picture viewer, takes you to the nearest petrol station, hospital, police station resturants, hotels, theme parks, etc.. also has a currency converter, language guide, travel guide, audible book player, world clock, measurment converter and a calculator.
I vote for Garmin ![]() |

Lowrance XOG. the battery only lasts a little over an hour but its portable and ram mount make tons of different holders - boat, atv etc. If you are into fishing you can also buy the navtronics or lakemaster chips that show in anywhere from 1-3 foot breaks. boat launches, bottom structure... We have used them in -20f when we ice fish and the LCD still functions well. It does regular, birds eye, voice navigation and comes with a media player.

I've had a MIO for about 2 years, still works great and was about ½ the price of the low-end TomToms and Garmins. Although, the map doesn't pick up some of the newer roads and stuff, which kinda blows because the Myrtle area is constantly expanding. Still worth the buck fifty though.

I bought my wife a TomTom One recently (the new version). One prob so far is that it occasionally turns itself on when it's sitting on her desk. I don't know why, or whether this is a common issue. She doesn't use the car charger so the device turning itself on could cause some problems...

I love my nuvi. When you're shopping for GPS, make sure you get one that will speak the name of the street. Some of the cheaper ones will just say something like "Turn left in 200 ft". It's much easier if it just says the name of the street to turn on so you don't have to take your eyes off the road to make sure you're turning on the right road.

Thank you all for the advice. It seems that I am probably going to go with the Garmin nüvi 205W or some other model very similar to this.
I'll let you know what I wind up with tomorrow. ![]()

No, I made sure that when I searched the site there that option (which you suggested) was checked in my search.

Click on the specs tab. It shows it doesn't say the name of the street. When I bought mine the Nuvi 260 was the least expensive Garmin that had that feature.

I picked up a TomTom GO 930 about a month ago. The thing is a piece of shit.
The previous Tom Tom didn't have any of the glitches the new one does. I'm thinking it may just be a bad unit that I need to exchange. |

I'm going to go out and buy one tomorrow at one of the department stores around here that carry them. I'll be sure to make sure that the one I get speaks the street names. Thanks for the advice! ![]()

Check this bad boy out.
![]() This is a Navigon 7100. It's a little pricy, but I found it over at Amazon heavily discounted. You can get one for $249 there. This looks cool as hell, but with so many people recommending a Garmin, I am torn. Does anyone out there have a Navigon?

I found it at buydig.com for 187.00 and the maps service for the 57.89, rather then 79.00 advertised on the official website...http://www.buydig.com/shop/home.aspx
