A bipartisan committee of the Alaskan legislature finds Sarah Palin "Abused Executive Power" as Governor and violated the "public trust" and "state law" when firing Walter Monegan.

Stay tuned....

I'd take a picture of my face so you could see the shock in it, but the following blank space will work just as well:

I am one of the biggest Palin dislikers around, but the way I read that, she abused power, but did not violate any laws.

So when will "choosing a Palin" become slang for making a really shitty choice.

Same here. It seems like an abuse of power but not a violation of the law. Still it will hurt her and McCain as well.

Wrong you can read the actual findings here.
http://media.adn.com/smedia/2008/10/...ffiliate.7.pdf
(see page 8 for a summary of the findings)
It says she violated a state ethics law, and towards the end of the report it says it is a misdemeanor, but the penalty for the violation is forfeiture off office which you can read for yourself near the end of report.

Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah.

Is it the same country where veterans live under bridges and employees have 10 minutes to leave their office after they have been told they were fired?

Jeez.

What a joke. Bank nationalization, ghettos of junkies, veterans living under bridges, a comedian in DC, bodybuilder in California and soccer mom in Alaska.

What the hell.

The world is coming to a fucking end.

I was reading the article on cnn, which I admittedly just scanned.

Yeah, the title of the article is:

Panel: Palin abused power, broke no laws in trooper case

I did find this amusing in the article, though:

Ahead of Friday's hearing, Palin supporters wearing clown costumes and carrying balloons denounced the investigation as a "kangaroo court" and a "three-ring circus" led by supporters of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Yes, the whole thing was orchestrated by supporters of Obama, who, through their psychic abilities, began the investigation BEFORE Palin was picked to be McCain's running mate. Dipshits...

Thanks for the link. I had just read what was on the cnn.com headline and at that moment it just said that she had done something unethical, but not illegal. Apparently that is not the reality of the situation. If it were just an unethical thing it would be bad for her, now that it seems she has broken a law it could turn really ugly for her.

I never liked her and this kind of reassures me that my thoughts on her seemed to be correct.

kind of reminds me of travelgate, doesn't it?

....that is when the spouse of someone in office does something wrong in attempting to use the spouse's influence to get people fired?

I'm guessing that no one here will remember anything about Travelgate....

For the reasons explained in section IV of this report, I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 2952.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act. Alaska Statute 2952.110(a) provides

this will be known as a Palinski ...

What he said. Let's face it, anyone who thinks voting for McCain/Palin a good idea at this stage really hasn't the intelligence or sense for that to make any difference to them.

That said...if it swings the 'undecided' vote just another 1/4% it all helps. Sadly I don't think the polls reflect the reality come voting day and it'll be much closer than many think/hope so I suppose every little helps.

Breaking news.

A person in power abused that power!!!!!!!!

I'm shocked.

<Turn off sarcasm.>

This investigation was going on while they were picking her as VP. That's the real shock. They either want to lose or don't give the electorate any common sense. The big problem is she got caught, they picked her and the ensuing legal action from the guy who lost his job.

Assuming he does not win the Alaskan State Lottery this week.

The investigation revealed that Todd Palin has extraordinary access to the governor's office and her closest advisers. He used that access to try to get trooper Wooten fired, the report found.

Branchflower said Sarah Palin violated a statute of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act.

umm it was going on well before she was picked to be VP. The whole thing was started by the Republicans yet now somehow it's all Obama's fault..

I did find this amusing in the article, though:

Ahead of Friday's hearing, Palin supporters wearing clown costumes and carrying balloons denounced the investigation as a "kangaroo court" and a "three-ring circus" led by supporters of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.
She did violate state ethic laws.. criminal laws? no..

But they forgot to mention that the kangaroo court consisted of 11 repubs and 4 dems..
Palin's supporters were appropriately dressed.. Just a bunch o' clowns..

But the Branchflower report still makes for good reading, if only because it convincingly answers a question nobody had even thought to ask: Is the Palin administration shockingly amateurish? Yes, it is. Disturbingly so.

I agree. They've stated "abuse of power" but nothing about breaking the law (yet).

However, in order to prove there was some kind of abuse of power, there has to be some financial or political gain - and there wasn't any in this case. I mean, I've seen the interview with this so called brother in law. He was so fucking stupid it wasn't funny. They should be blasting Palin for allowing him to become a police officer in the first place, not for firing him.

But both sides will spin it as they see fit.

(Think of Palin's agriculture secretary who said her love of cows qualified her for the job.)"

Interesting statement:

I think this is going to turn out to be a real crisis moment for the conservative movement. The difference between Palin and Bush is: He was just pretending to be regular folk from the heartland, whereas she actually is. Palin . . . really tests this faux populism the party leaders have been peddling for so long.

Yeppers...thought I said that yesterday. Oh, wait, I did, in this same thread:

Yes, the whole thing was orchestrated by supporters of Obama, who, through their psychic abilities, began the investigation BEFORE Palin was picked to be McCain's running mate. Dipshits...
