It's a good idea, but with the thousands of sites and the daily updates, keeping up to make it current is going to take a lot of resources

yes its true ... but there are only few places with real hackers. all other places are only doing copy and paste, so its about keep in touch with those sources, and removing one pass will make 1000s people on 100s of places unhappy

Shhhhh... don't tell the surfers that they are actually passwords that link to a tour that upsells to a free trial with e-mail address or CC information, or $1 trials.

Oops. Sorry.

On the real boards you can't get unless someone invites you, and unless you reply to the topic to see the hiden text. So unless you actually hacked them yourself, your bot is quite useless, since if you go at it as a regular user, you'll quickly get banned when they see you replying to every topic. In short, your service makes no real sense. I think strongbox guy has something like that, but he, as many other bots just scan google results and have a list of mostly outdated pass sites (amongst which many are actually webmasters making money). In short, as a free service (or some other favor someone could do for you), it's ok, as payed, not much value for money you can give to people this way.

Uh, why would you say something like that?

If you're trying to offer this service to sponsors, that would be one of the key places to look for their hacked passwords.

That might work on surfer forums, not on cracker forums, sorry. No archive, google, database install download or things like that work there. If they do, you dont know the right forums. Why? Because there's enough rivalry between themselves that they have to secure that shit so that other forum admins can't get their stuff.

As someone mentioned, you'd find more luck/more working passes by going to irc channels. undernet, efnet, dalnet, thundernet etcetcetc.

yes there are untouchable privates where is impossible to get in ... but those are privates, so not that big damage as public boards. semi public boards are enough to kill the passes faster than thousands people in public will get them ... btw still waiting for someone ... looks like everyone better dont try than see passes from his sites out

Not really.
Public boards == passes die quickly.
Private boards, they have a selection of passwords + proxies to use, so the passwords never die. They're the places you want, not the casual surfer.

And RE: '#xxxpasswords' - you're obviously green with the service you're offering, or you'd know it. These guys maintain lists of 50 - 200 verified passwords to each big site.

Last time I trawled through there, the amount of stuff they had was epic.
With that said, one could argue that these guys were never purchasers, so the only thing lost is bandwidth...

ok ... looks like nobody is listening to small amout or any price, so i will do this complete for free ... if you want to give me a try, send me an email and i will be sending you weekly, and cause its free maybe not every week, report, and after you can try to search the passes in google or at undernet and you will see what i was talking about if nobody interested, no problem thanks for saving my time, but i will have no problem to put few hours in week to this, to help adult at least a bit ... wish you luck with your sites everyone!

FYI none of that is correct. We spider the sites ourselves, we don't use Google.
We have well over 100,000 pages which we spider and an enormous number of
fresh, working passwords. We check them regularly.

It always amazes me how often people rattle on in great detail about topics they
know nothing about. Some of the theories people post about how hidden features
of Strongbox work are absolutely hilarious. Both on webmaster boards and on
hacker boards people go on and on, explaining in great detail, but totally making
it up and not saying anything even close to the truth.

The one thing ladida said that was remotely close to any fact was mentioning the
name "Google". While we don't use Google, we are certainly aware of the act that
Google has indexed over 1,000,000,000,000 pages. Many of those 1 TRILLION
pages and other documents indexed by Google are things you wouldn't expect to find
in Google. Things where people forgot to turn "Options Indexes" off, so
their "private", "hidden" files end up in Google - like a certain well known
hacker's private list.

So our future plans include augmenting our own system, which again spiders well
over a hundred thousand URLs itself, with additional information gleaned from
Google's trillion page index.

I should say one other thing on this general topic. As TeenCat develops this
system, it will become apparent that not only are most webmasters loathe to
pay for anything other than what they absolutely have to, but spidering these
sites and IRC channels and doing it right is a heck of a lot harder than it first
appears and even with a lot of effort and hardware resources devoted to it the
results are less than spectacular. I never really mention our service, even to
people who get Strongbox, unless someone else brings the topic up.
That's because while our system may well be the best of it's kind, I don't think
watching the password sites is the best solution to the underlying problem.
We prefer to first stop the passwords from getting compromised in the first place
by using correct MODERN encryption on the password file, then we can catch
any shared passwords quite effectively when people try to use them. The spider
is a cool little bonus which will catch some, so it may be worth the $50 / year for
a large site, but no spider based system will ever be as effective as Strongbox
itself running on the actual pay site. So we don't promote the spider using in
any of the several ways we could do that, such as an upsell for webmasters
getting Strongbox.

What does people stealing content have to do with posting/sharing passwords? Is there a code among surfers that you can only download and distribute the content if the account is not yours?

Most HACKED PASSWORDS are already dead on most sites...

If I post a hacked pass for something like playboy.com in a forum it will be dead in a matter of minutes (98% of the time).

Yes, there are exceptions. But something like Suze.net which is a preferred pass in those forums is going to be dead in not minutes but seconds. Fact is, the majority of passes that stay alive are cracked live for the intended user. This makes it so the user and the owner of the password are the only ones with the password. It never makes it to a list anywhere.

This kind of request cracking is what costs the industry money. Some IRC channels give out such passes to the tune of 25,000 passes served daily. Out of these only 8% or so die. At $20 per sale that is $500,000 from one channel!

And all of it could be stopped by making the users password for them. When it doesn't stop for YOUR program you instantly know you are being hacked. It is THE ONLY WAY they could have gotten your passwords.

Once your shit is secure you will then need to think about torrents, etc...

so ... as this is going nowhere, nobody is interested now, and i still have place to do this, i was thinking about something ... what if i will start posting programs, sites, and first 4 chars of working username, you as paysite owner can check your passfile if its there, and if you will be interested just send me and email and we can talk about how to cut your members are traffic to half or so ... ? i will be not sharing any info with anyone, only paysite owners, just want to pay your attention and help to grow also mine sales. so, what do you think? will you be so mad if i will show here that your paysite is hacked? again, its only to pay your attention and less people in your members are for free means more sales for everyone ... so, let me know if its totally wrong, if no reply i will start posting in next hours ... have a nice day and wish you best with your sites everyone!
