Hotels near JFK Airport?

Anyone recommend a hotel close to JFK airport that is half decent? I looked on hotels.com but wasnt sure if there is a better one to go with, or if its worth saying 1.5 miles for $180 versus 3 miles for $120, etc.

Obviously something that offers transportation to the airport

I figured a few of you probably stayed around there before

Do you have to be right near the airport? If not I would stay in Manhattan. You will have much more choices and also much more to do. Its only a short train ride back to JFK from the city.

id like to stay close to the airport only because im not familiar with the area at all, and my flight leaves early the next day so I didnt want to take a risk getting stuck in morning rush hour traffic

Manahattan has subway service at JFK... treat yourself

Other than that you're in the middle of Queens which is not necessarily the definition of hotel luxury unfortunately.

A cab takes about 45 mins from Manhattan, but expect to pay $400+ a night for hotel.

Only drawback is, nothing nearby and you wouldn't want to walk anywhere anyhow but if you just want a place to sleep that is great hotel.

Trust me, you don't want to be around JFK... it's kinda ghetto. If you can plan it out its best to stay in the city or one of the newer hotels out in Brooklyn. because there aint shit to do by JFK except get robbed.

hotels near JFK are NOT what you want. go to Manhattan for sure and just give yourself a little more time to get to airport. you will be happy you did.
