You're confusing your classifications....or "factions" as you call it.

Republicans (right) and Democrats (Democratic Party) are party designations.

Liberal (left of center), Moderate (center), and Conservative(right of center) tend to describe where you are on issues.

Democrats tend to be Liberal or Moderate on issues
Republicans tend to be Conservative on issues

Extremists tend to be too liberal or too conservative
