Obama's lead slips to 3 points - Reuters

http://www.reuters.com/article/newsO...49G0V320081019

Democrat Barack Obama's lead over Republican John McCain in the presidential race has dropped to 3 points, according to a Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby poll released on Sunday.

Obama leads McCain by 48 to 45 percent among likely U.S. voters, down 1 percentage point from Saturday. The four-day tracking poll, which has a margin of error of 2.9 points.

Pollster John Zogby said the numbers were good news for McCain, and probably reflected a bump following his appearance in the third and final presidential debate on Wednesday.

"For the first time in the polling McCain is up above 45 percent. There is no question something has happened," Zogby said.

He said the Arizona senator appeared to have solidified his support with the Republican base -- where 9 out of 10 voters now back him -- and was also gaining ground among the independents who may play a decisive role in the November 4 election.

Obama's lead among independent voters dropped to 8 points on Sunday from 16 points a day earlier.

That's a GOP slanted poll. Gallup has him up by 8 points

all the mccain supporters I know just keep to themselves they dont talk 24/7 about him they will just show up and vote (they did register because they understand how voting works)

the obama supporters dont stop yapping and yelling and screaming "vote for change" (they will get change alright, pocket change that is)

and someone made a good point the other day tons of blacks are voting for obama because hes black and tons of whites are voting for mccain because hes white.

As of now no doubt obama is leading, but the race aint over till its over.

The day we get rid of the electorial college is the day these national polls mean anything what so ever. State by state. That's all that counts.

I don't give a shit about national polls.

What I see is a candidate that is being forced to defend states that haven't been in play for 30+ years and not being able to campaign in the states he needs to win.

It's over "my friends" and all because he thought it would work to have a cute idiotic woman for a running mate.

Have you seen the news lately? 100,000 cam out to see Obama in St. Louis and another 75k in Kansas City and then Powell endorsing him this morning.

If McCain calls me his friend one more time I'm gonna flip out. How creepy? I don't even know the guy.

If Obama picked Hilary and Mccain picked somebody respectable - I'd vote Republican as usual.

The danger is that Obama supporters will think he has it in the bag and not bother to vote. That said, Americans seem to take their right to vote alot more seriously than us non Americans so Im not sure how much of an issue this is. If this was outside the USA, he would badly need to play down his chances to make sure he gets his full vote out.

Well here is what you posted Feb 10 2008

"I am white, I am registered Republican and I'll vote for Obama if he is nominated. If Hillary is nominated I'll vote for McCain. If McCain runs with Huck and runs against Hillary, I'll stay home and jerk myself 'til my dick becomes BLACK!!."

http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showthread.php?t=806342

Like I said those who supported mccain from the get go are still supporting him, there is way more to an election than a VP pick

And you think they will admit they are switching... At the end of the day they will be alone in that cubicle to vote and THAT's pretty much what counts.

Republicans hate him, most Democrats despise him. He symbolized the failed Iraq war, his support is as genuine as Clinton's and Jesse Jackson's

The left has been bashing him for years.

http://www.gfy.com/fucking-around-and-business-discussion/863002-president-george-bushs-former-secretary-colin-powell-endorses-democr.html

It takes a brainwashed Obama supporter of a special type to think Colin Powells endorsement is a good, other than the fact it may grab some votes from McCain.

not really, right out of the gate you said "I am white, I am registered Republican and I'll vote for Obama if he is nominated." now you say that it was palin that made you change your mind

those who where for mccain from the start still are, palin is a bad pick for sure but like I said there is way more to this election.

EB, 2 supreme court justices retire in the next 4 years. Just think of your business with 2 more conservative judges on the Supreme court....

You may not appreciate Colin Powell, but you can agree with some of his comments at least.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27265369/

"But he said McCain’s choices in the last few weeks — especially his selection of Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska as his vice presidential running mate — had raised questions in his mind about McCain’s judgment."

..

"“Every day, there was a different approach,” he said, adding that he also “would have difficulty with two more conservative appointments to the Supreme Court.”"

Tony, we live in the interesting times.
Folks with money and over 250k incomes like me vote Obama and millions of "no pot to piss in" rednecks voting McCain. Go figure.

Zogby is a piece of shit poll. If anything this will motivate obama supporters not to stay home and actually go vote.

Barack Obama again leads John McCain nationally by 10 points among all registered voters, 52% to 42%.

You can't read too much into one poll. If you could, I could say Obama is up by 14.

Realclearpolitics and Pollster.com have averages of all the major polls, that number is most likely the most accurate. (right now Obama +5)

The only new polls reporting right now are the daily tracking polls, which fluctuate wildly. The "real polls" taken after the debate (NBC/WSJ, Zogby's regular (not tracking) polls, Yahoo/AP, CBS/Washignton Post) will come out on Tuesday or Wednesday, and that's when we'll know if the momentum is shifting or not.
