WTF is up with SALES?

I guess the economy is mostly to blame. Last 2 weeks:

8000 hits with 1 sponsor (normally 1:500), 4 TRIAL signups

14000 hits with another sponsor (normally 1:670), 2 sales

5500 sponsor 3, 0 sales.

I'm glad I've diversified, this is seriously looking bad for affiliates.

It is more than the economy I am afraid to say.
You can pretty much trust what Wired Guy said, or assume he is just saying it to get you to quit all together. Especially since he does a lot of SEO stuff. My own stuff is very targeted traffic, organic, etc. Traffic numbers near same, ratio's worse. Yet I am not seeing a significant number of more declines with my processor. (IE. failed join attempts, not enough funds, so forth).

Yes. I've only ever done search engine based highly targeted traffic. Sending millions of bullshit hits to a sponsor for a few sales is not my style.

I've done 376 sales this month, compared to 514 last month, across half a dozen sponsors.

I blame Osama, I mean Obama, I mean tubes, erm, myself? must be me.

I can only think of a few type of people who get paid monthly, near the end or start of one to boot.

I can however put it pretty simply and if one can not understand it oh well. (micro niche stuff too, yet I see it in others stats as well). Will use my personal site for this since I can access everything.

Often more traffic the past few months. Several cases of huge traffic spikes too.
Ratio's have gone down by about 20% or so.
Join page conversions are much closer to expected. Not huge change there, little increase in exit's.
Transaction declines (new joins) has not risen much at all. Which it would if people had no funds available, bad card, had to try a different form, etc.
Re-bill transactions have pretty much stayed about the same. It is down around 1-2% but that also could be a reasonable margin of error. Again not a fund issue. Plus people are sticking around, enjoying updates, etc.


You could say yes the economy is making some people rethink before joining. I often saw drops in traffic anyways when there was real bad financial news being spilled 24/7. Which I also think accounted for it. Plus some may be looking up research, politics, etc.

It however does not explain the no noticeable increase in new join transaction declines. Nor does it explain why almost all re-bills are going through.

Others are more than welcome to share some biz like I just did. Others can say it is unchanged across a large number of sites (guess some could be down, others up = balance), people could say they see no difference, whatever. Just like to see the input and the more legit the better.

Yeah, for me too. I got a celeb-sponsor that got 100's of different landing pages with a different celeb on each page. So I did setup what I thought was very targeted keywords for each page. For example, Paris Hiltons landing page I used keyword like:

Paris Hilton Nude
Paris Hilton Sex
Paris Hilton Naked
and so on.

My ratio is:

for all of you who are saying your doing okay, or sales are up are you making a substantial amount of income in adult or just beer money like a few hundred or even a few thousand a month? because you won't be as affected as the ones with the larger incomes, they see a bigger picture.

plain and simple. tubes (illegal tubes with the long videos) fucked up adult at first, then the recession hit, and now it got even worse because people would rather go to the free tube sites than join a paysite because of the recession. if tube sites with all that free porn weren't around people would still be will to pay for porn even during a recession, and ratios at least would be as bad as are they are now. i go to some of the well-known illegal tube sites and wonder myself why i would ever need to join another paysite in my life.

You're a few years late to even be targeting paris hilton keywords IMO. She bought my first car back when her tape hit, but recently I've actually let a bunch of domains for her expire.

Celeb shit seems to convert in little brushfires. You have to know exactly what to target and when to do it. This is even more true if its strictly a SE landing page with no bookmaker building content.

I only used "Paris Hilton" as a example. The list of celebs was pretty big.

And you may be right that the timing is important but still, 4 sales from 30k is still very low for this kind of traffic.

I think surfers are being more picky about what they buy. Some of my sponsors have dropped big time, others are doing well. Overall its not pretty but its recession, people are looking to cut back.

I know it was only an example and I used the example to illustrate why I wouldn't waste my link juice on general landing pages for a bunch of celeb names. The fact that it is a big list of celebs is the reason I think its a waste of juice. Maybe I'll just be quiet though, since I stopped messing with celeb traffic a while ago. I always got better returns elsewhere. I only jump in when I see something I consider "big".

If conversions are bad you can try to fix it... or you can sit and wonder...
