So disappointed in my fellow Californians right now ... (Prop 8 too close to call)

They are still not calling Prop 8. but it is very close and seems to be leaning towards a win.

I can't believe the level of douchebaggery required to make that possible... Even though I live in one of the most republican counties in the state I have barely seen any Prop. 8 propaganda and don't know a single person who supports it so I figured it was a cinch.

What a waste of time and money, how does this really affect us straight people at all? If you want to protect the sanctity of marriage, ban divorce!

Are stories like this really that compelling to get people to vote for something so lame: http://www.protectmarriage.com/video/view/6 (Guarantee the 'husband' in this story punches ass).

I'm just saying, what happened here?!!!

If it fails by one vote.

It will be known as the "Shatner Revenge".

several years ago. There was an initiative that got voted No. It was some health care for illegals. When it was voted No the illegals went ape shit and the measure was passed.

Let's see if these fags can pull together (no pun intended) and get this nonsense overturned.

We need to summon the powers of the ambiguously gay duo.

its almost like all those pretty weddings that just happened in Cali put a flame under some conservatives ass and freaked them out to pass this.

all those joyous pictures in the news... its like geez, we wouldn't want gay people to be happier than us!

I agree... This was the lamest thing ever... WTF? Let people be people and enjoy whatever makes them happy... As Hal said in a video blog and I thought was very true (I paraphrase): "When we are in a more enlightened time and look back at this it will be with embarassment"....

Who cares? Being gay is nature's way of saying your particular genes represent an evolutionary dead end. Just send them to an island, maybe next to the leppurs?

A vote is a vote is a vote. They can't "challenge" it.

is it a law after 1 vote? I know in Nevada they have been trying to pass the weed thing, but it has to be voted on and pass 2 times in a row to become law

Man I really don't understand people for this prop. The government controlling who can and cannot get married is completely wrong. That is for the individual to decide, not our government.

Why not polygamy? I am all for equal rights for gay partners, but I don't see why the insist on pushing for marriage. Can they not just be happy to live in a part of the world that doesn't hang them or view them like complete degenerates and lets them live their lives without pushing their shit on others? If I was gay I'd keep my mouth fucking shut and be happy and not constantly push and parade against the social order. If I like golden showers does it mean I have to hold a rally for it? Fuck no.

but without marriage, they don't have those same rights...

for example, my uncle has been with his boyfriend for 25 years, totally monogamous with each other and happier than my parents ever were in their marriage. Yet, there are certain things they cannot do that my parents could. Maybe we should just ban marriage altogether? After the cost of my divorce, I'd be all in favor of that ;-)

Yeah but the idea behind giving an incentive for getting married is so that you can start a family and have kids, and since you're having kids it might be a little harder on you so you get more things. Two dudes can't have a kid.
