I read about this the other day. If Stevens wins and gets sent to jail the state of Alaska's rules are that there would be a special election. Many think Palin might then run for that seat. It wouldn't even be an election. As governor, she would be responsible for appointing someone to the vacant seat. In which case, she could very well appoint herself.

I don't think she would I think it depends on the state. They were saying on CNN if Stevens wins and is tossed out of the Senate that there would be a special election where the democrat that lost to Stevens would have to run against whoever else was out there including the possibility of Palin and maybe one other guy.
