From what I know they have to pay the tax before they get anything. If he can't afford the tax on the cash he can't give up a car to cover it.

So many walk away with nothing because the IRS is sitting there at the show waiting for their money. Why do you think the prizes on Canadian game show are not as good.

I find that very hard to believe. If this were true then the IRS is preventing themselves from getting more money - never ever heard of any government being as stupid as this.
