Been doing 3d on the side, lemme know what you think (PIC)

I do 3d architectural stuff and landscapes as a hobby on the side, let me know what you think of my latest little project. Anyone else into this kind of stuff? This was done with Maya and Vue Infinite. 100% 3d.

Not bad at all. Maybe a bit too much light on the porch considering its dark outside?

Looks pretty good, but the lighting is a bit too plain and makes it look cartoonish imho, but I reckon exterior scenes are the most difficult to get right.

Also I would add more variety on the wood textures

Very nice. Some wear and tear effect on the wood texture would work imho.

I like it, the light could be an overhead outdoor light. As another 3d guy all I can say is keep it up

If it were dark there would be little to no shadow in the grass from the trees.

needs an Ambient occlusion pass.

Are you using GI or Final gather for illumination?

Its alright for starting out, doing it on the side. Its looks pretty low-poly. I love Cinema 4D. I think its really underrated software. Besides Cinema 4d, I use Maya.

Modeling looks good, but my one complaint would be the compositing. I'm seeing black outlines on the edges that meet the background, which makes it appear cartoonish. Also needs some color adjustment (levels) to get it to match up better with your backdrop.

I agree completely, my Alpha channel got fucked up so I had to do the compositing manually which lead to degraded overall quality. Thanks for all the comments, the lighting is not perfect and needs some work as most comments seemed to suggest.

In regards to to the questions of how long it took ... modeling of the porch and design of the (imperfect) landscape, plus a few minutes in PS for compositing, probably took about 3 hrs total. Not a huge amount of time at all.

Thanks again for the input! I will post some revisions.

-Phil

That one looks great, wish i could do such complex scenes with poser. The only thing
that somehow reduces the realism is the texure / material setting of the countertop.

Now these are much more realistic obviously. Really good interior modeling. In order to make any suggestions, you really have to nitpick. The only thing that strikes me in this render are that the "towels" hanging on the wall and in the shelves seem too stiff and smooth, and there seems to be no depth to the sinks. They look flat. Again, an AO pass would do this wonders. Otherwise, great work.
