Anyone else waste their day/time on black friday? - GoFuckYourself.com

My brother-in-law and his g/f decided to camp out Fry's at 3AM to get themselves advertised laptops for $299. I told him though the laptop had decent specs, whenever something sounds too good to be true, it generally is. So they decided to go anyways and waited in line for 3 hrs. By the time the store was gonna open at 6AM, a bunch of people started cutting in line and people were getting slammed together. It got so bad the cops showed up to try to keep some order. When they finally got to the counter, they were 'sold out' of those laptops and they ended up getting another 'special deal' one (with nearly identical specs as the $299 mind you) for $499, which is not bad for a laptop but still, they ended up spending $200 more than they wanted to.

So did anyone find good deals or is this just one big marketing hoax to get people in the stores?

Just wait until the day before Christmas and watch stores go crazy trying to get your money, specially with the current economic situation. Of course if you buy things that might need guaranty, you might be out of luck come march or april when a lot of the companies go belly up.

I waited until evening, when all the crowds had died down, and then went to RC Willey and bought something nice for my living room.
