I find creating more niche or keyword related handles works best in the niche. I posted some info here of what I've done.

The best way I've been able to be successful is through constant posting on twitter. There are tools out there to help you automate this. I haven't fully dove into it yet to the extent that it could be very successful but yes and it works.

Yes it's possible, more so on solo model sites, www.paigeturnah.com has got to nearly 30k followers in not very long at all, months only.

It's great for announcing latest updates and promos, drives some traffic each time, not huge amounts but 1 tweet could drive between 1.5-3k of visitors.

One of my porn promotion accounts has 21,000 followers...another has 13,000...

My primary on with my producer name has about 4,000 and also gets a lot of porn followers, as well as industry people.

Especially if you have blogs, there is no reason to not have Twitter.
It's easy to set up. If you have a lot, use throwaway emails with Yahoo or similar, numbering them and documenting them if needed.
Use Feedburner to auto post along with a few other things if you use RSS.
Twitter profiles are SEO friendly.
Twiends is great, especially for mainstream.

I disagree. Making friends (they follow you/you follow them) and retweeting each others Tweets can grow your rev exponentially.

Also, a long lasting trend on Twitter are the "Follow Friday" Tweets. I highly recommend participating in this even if it sounds like the dumbest bullshit you've ever heard of. Basically every Friday people send out Tweets with the hashtag #FF attached to the Tweet. This is recommending to all of their followers that they should follow whoever is mentioned in the Tweet. Its because account with more followers is more appealing to other people who may consider following. Thats why some people use fake/bot followers to kick start their accounts.
Of course 5 extra followers from gfy is not a significant number for that treason anyway.

i love twitter, it keeps me up-to-date on the exciting things my friends are doing. Not only that I can checkup on the latest celebrities and get the scoop on fashion and the latest trends. This all happens in real time and I can also get the feed linked into my iPhone, Android and many applications use this website. i really love twitter, thanks guys
