Just picked up my 5D MK II

Still getting used to the new setup. Shooting at ISO 50 takes some practice.

Seems like only yesterday when the big photography debate was about
whether digital cameras would ever be good enough to replace film

Congrats on the new camera

Is ISO 50 the native ISO of the 5DII sensor, no longer the "extension"? (which is really just a firmware hack)

Seriously thinking about trading in my 1DsII and getting a 5DII... I love the 1 series but it's just too big and bulky, not to mention expensive when it's just a hobby

Just checked the specs and ISO 50 is still an extension... be careful about using that, with previous models ISO 50 is basically overexposing and pulling the sensor values back down in firmware. Only ISO100 and higher is "passed through"...

Sensitivity

• ISO 100 - 6400
• 0.3 or 1.0 EV increments
• Auto ISO (100-3200)
• Expansion options:
ISO 50 (L1)
ISO 12800 (H1)
ISO 25600 (H2)

Yeah the pic above was ISO 50 so far not impressed with the expansion but otherwise this cam rocks.

I've been on the 1Ds MII for a while now (about 8 months)

Upgrading from the Mi, I didn't feel much / any difference, except that it was faster, less buggy, and finally I had a new[er] generator sensor.

I don't except to get much until I take the jump to the 1ds miii

How much did you buy yours for? Trying to get a feel for what mine is worth. I suspect it's depreciated faster than my car.
