![]() Here's my specs:
Core2Quad Q6600 4GB ddr2-667 150GB 10k rpm Raptor ATI Radeon X850 (256MB PCI-E 16x) Dual Samsung 226cw 22" lcd's I'm very linux proficient, but I've been using XP for years just for the sake of compatability. Here are the programs I want to be able to run: Adobe CS3/4 Suite LivePerson Zoiper (VoIP client) Everything else I run has a *nix equivalent that I can setup. My biggest concern is running the three above programs, and having my dual screens setup. I remember last time I setup dual screens on a Debian install, I had to fuck with xorg.conf wayyyy longer than I wanted. Bottom line: I have a Vista OEM CD here, that I don't want to use. I've used Kubuntu and LOVED it, as well as Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL, Fedora, SuSe, Mandrake, Gentoo, and a few others I can't remember. Please share your thoughts as to getting the best workstation environment setup. |

You can use wine to run the windows apps. You can also use OS X and take advance of the unix core as well. I like Linux but it just doesn't have the apps that OS X has so I use OS X. Textmate kicks ass if you are editing code all day long.
