Is bandwith expensive? I need to increase my bandwith but not my server

My traffic is increasing and apparently I've hit my limit, so I need to increase my bandwith. My server itself is fine, not slow at all.
So when I go to them to increase my bandwith but not change the rest of my hosting, is that something cheap on their end, or expensive to do?

I pay $240 for a dedicated server on my most important site, it's the best investment I've ever made with 10Gb per day. Dip into your pocket and forget about it. It's with pacificrack.

I just need a little more bandwith.
Want to know if its expensive or cheap before I write to them to renegotiate my hosting with them.

I mean is bandwith something you can just crank a knob and its easy to adjust, or is it expensive?

Pacific Rack offers 195 $ a month for 30 mbits right now, that's the cheapest I've seen from a reputable host.

BW is very easy to adjust for a host, they will normally charge you a little bit more for overage then pre-paid BW.

clickhappy, yes you can most definitely increase bandwidth without touching anything else on your server.
its mostly just a billing thing for you since you're only at 3mbps now. so just see how much to upgrade to however much more BW you need .. and thats that.

I signed 6 servers at the time to get that rate though, typically that setup is about $200/mn.

Depends entirely on your host since many of them will factor bandwidth as part of a package price rather than "server plus $x/mbps." Some will be happy to bump you up at a fair rate, others will charge you so much that it's cheaper to lease another 2 additional servers. Have a look at their current product page to get an idea.

bw is dirt cheap now a days... the extra 1-2mbps you probably need doesn't really cost them anything...

too bad it's a cookie cutter host that will eventually flake out with all your data on one of their boxes. you can also tell why they have no phone number listed on their site, any hosting company that won't let you talk to a person directly on the phone really blows

There is one trick used by expirienced webmasters, use expensive hosts for base and cheap hosts for bandwith.I use same method and it works fine.Dynamic content goes to first host and static goes to cheap host.
