Family problem. Need advice.

My friend has a sister that after 22 years of marriage dealing with a phyco as a husband got the courage to want out. She acutally held out until both her children were settled.
The made pretty good money together and she is due 1/2.

My friend has found out that the husband had been secretly buying property in Santo Domingo that could be worth over a Mil.

Properties are under 2 relatives. (That don't have money) They rent here.

The US Law cannot intercede.

My friend's sister is almost a saint.

and please be realistic.

Will the "good money" they made together be enough to settle her for the future. If it is, the fuck his secret projects. There is a chance it could end up backfireing, so it would be stupid to risk that just to get more money

US Law may not be able to intercede in the ownership or seizure, but proving that he is the beneficial owner or contributed towards the purchase during the marriage should be enough to have the value of the properties listed as an asset of his for purposes of the division of property.

Also, if he doesn't list the properties and then is found to have attempted to hide assets by not listing them this could weigh heavily in her favor.

No Judge or Arbitrator likes to be lied to.

Ten years ago, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... The A-Team.

Divorce is her best friend. Most divorce judges have very broad powers to create equitable settlements. I don't see why foreign property would be shielded from a settlement. The lynch pin may be the proof --what kind of documentation can she provide to prove her husband bought that property? If there is fraud involved, it may actually work to her advantage by giving her leverage.

Consult an attorney for a definitive answer.

a lawyer should be able to tell you if there is any point going after the relatives.. if the property is in their names, and they rent it, then they must have to pay for the 'income' being donated by the husband
