NOFOLLOW - on link or in meta tags?
Is it important to put nofollow on links if you have nofollow in the meta tags of the page the link leads to? Obviously, you can't do this when you don't own the page you are linking to but I prefer this method if it will still prevent PR leak.

the metatag up top will take care of it on the actual page
i think you answered your own question in terms of an external link going inbound |

I want stop passing PR from the homepages to a few of the internal pages it links to. Can I do this by putting meta nofollow on the interior pages and doing nothing else? That is my first choice. If I have to go put nofollow on the link on the homepage I will. But only if you tell me I have to, lol.

NOINDEX, in the meta on that internal page will stop the spider from indexing it when it does arrive, NOINDEX/NOFOLLOW will stop the spider from indexing it when it arrives and stop the spider from following links on it.

WHAT? No follow means exactly that, no follow.. You can't have it followed if you're using no follow on the link or in meta.

Just noindex those pages, they're useless for SE's anyway.

All search engines follow and index nofollow links. You can read what they say about nofollow links, all follow and index, but they might not get juice, even though at least one engine ignores this pretty much completely.

Official statement is that yahoo follows and indexes all, but doesnt give link juice.
Google follows, but does not index, but they might index if that page has dofollow links. However, in real life they do index a lot of nofollow pages. |
